On the Fence About Strider SMF

I own one with the digi camo blade and just purchased a second just like it(just with the G10/Black handle) today. I use it for edc every day and find it to be the best for every day use for all items. Buy and enjoy.....

Paid 300.00 OTD for my PT. After about a week of daily carry I noticed that the frame lock was not seating on to the blade properly when fully open and i would have to push it all the way in with my thumb otherwise it would have some up and down blade play = Not acceptable for a 300.00 knife so I mailed it in to Strider with a note explaining the problem and after about 5 or 6 weeks it showed up at my door- completely fixed and in perfect

condition. This knife really has become my favorite EDC blade, i love the way it clicks when opening and closing, it makes a crisp fresh sound that feels like a brand new. IMO Strider is as good a knife builder as any production knife company needs to be, sure the F&F wasnt perfect right out of the clear plastic bag but they fixed the problem and took care of the customer!

To me I feel the handle of a Strider folder are top notch and incedibly tough and overbuilt. Unfortunately the blade
is another story. Definitley not one of the best slicers out there. It helps if you get the stonewash finish because theres
less friction when slicing through things. And youll need to reprofile the edge. It definitley is a one of a kind knife and
you cant really find anything similar from other knife companys. Ive been lusting over an SNG DGG for quite a while now.

That's exactly how I feel about 'em. There are a few "refinements" I'd make if I designed the PT/SnG/SmF... BUT there really is nothing else like them. For me, the PT is a little small... the SMF is a little big. The SnG is perfect. I don;t *really* like how thick the blade is, but all things considered there is a feeling of stoutness not really there with other knives with a big hole drilled in the blade.

Got a SNG and didn't like it, I think a SMF would be better, but I still don't suggest the plain handle version, patterned ones would be better but also much more expensive :(

Do you mind elaborating why you didn't like the SNG?
