Once More, Opinions Please

I can tell you already that I need one in 1/8 in convexed. I just need to figure out where to schedule it in. BTW what color of liners would be available.

Hope this economy shapes up, it's darn hard on us knife nuts as well as the Makers.

Liners can be red, white, or black. I know about the economy, my wife only works around 24 hours a week, and I have not been doing much at all. I`m still trying to find a job.

I really like the contoured handle!!
I would like to see the knife with a more of a point for bushcraft. (a little more like a BRK&T Fox River)
I would like to see the handle contours to be more smooth.

A couple of questions:
Where is the balance on this knife?
How hard is it to sharpen the base of he blade?
What kind of grind are you planning to put on it?

Let me know the price if you plan to make these.

Ira

The balance point is about 1/2" behind the guard, right in the first groove. I`m not sure what you mean about sharpening the base of the blade? The grind is kind of a combination between flat and convex. PM or email me for price.

OK. I will think about where to schedule that in and get back to you.

Looks good. I would prefer a straight spine and a little more point. The handle is lookin good and the large but would work well for pounding on.

Do you mean more like this? This is a photo C Bryant took of one of my knives.

I'd really like to see ya add some lightweight bird and trout or patch knife type blades to your line up John. Still keeping a full length handle though !

+1 on some smaller EDC'able blades, from 3/4" stock, with full size handles.

Well the Bird & Trout I posted seems to be a dud, but I still have some 3/32" X 3/4" stock, so I`ll try something else. Today I ground out a full size Nessie out of
3/32" X 1 1/2" stock.

This one has a 4" cutting edge of 3/16" thick O1, and is 8 1/2" overall, with a blade heigth of 1 1/4" . Handles are contoured black micarta, with two
1/4" aluminum pins, and a lined lanyard hole. If it proves popular, I will also be offering it in 1/8" stock. I think it would be a good all around knife, but you guys would know better than me. OK guys, let me have those opinions!

This shows the contoured handle.

This last one shows it in comparison with my old S&W Model 15.

I like it, maybe one an inch longer too?

I'd love to have one that would be of legal length to carry in all of the lower 48. I think that is under 4 inches but I am looking into that.
This style/handle looks great to my eyes.

Not to go too far off topic of this thread, but as far as I'm aware as long as it is in plain sight and not concealed in any way it is legal to carry pretty much no matter how long the blade is. At least that is how it is around here, and I live is So California....if it is legal here it is probably legal just about everywhere. I'm just stating what I know on the subject do not confuse my statement with any factual information!!!! :D

...and on the topic of the knife, I think you stumbled upon a great design, either in the blade or handle. I like them both, but do agree a different blade shape would be excellent as well (not that I think there is anything wrong with this one).:thumbup: Well done John, I am way impressed!

Thank you!

Again, sorry for the stray off course. In LA County, the blade generally has to be under three inches for exposed carry. There are exceptions. Might want to post the question in the knife law forum.

John, I was just thinking on how my mora 510 is kind of a perfect knife... what about something like that with the thin stock you have? Seems like there's a hunger for scandi grinds out there. I liked the size and proportions of the bird and trout, blade shape wasn't my personal preference...

Thanks for a lot of great ideas! It looks like I better order more steel. Keep an eye on the Makers Forums, I just signed up for my own forum.

Cool! I'm sure you have good reasons, and have probably been over this before, but if you took paypal you could capture the power of the impulse buy... as a consumer I can tell you it's more powerful than I'd like!

My paypal was set up for exactly one week when I got an email saying someone was trying to access my account. I was told I would only have limited access to the funds in there. I can`t live that way!
