one knife? restricted rules

I have a strong dislike for Strider, and Chris Reeve's knives, while nice, don't appeal to me, especially for the price.

+1

My biggest gripe with 'em, everyone has one, no individuality.. Just followers.. When I first joined BF it was shocking as to how many members had the same knives (sebenza).. They are nice and all, don't get me wrong, I just appreciate when someone throws something with personal/sentimental value instead of following the masses. They are nice but also not for me.

Also, I know I made a generalization, but I didn't even know about Reeve's knives until I kept seeing them in threads.

The reason behind no sebenza or strider and stuff like that is because it takes the fun ans variety out of people's answers. Everyone just says that. No one in any shape or form needs a strider or sebenza. Sure some people do need higher end stuff then others. But you have people who use their strider to open envelopes, cut a Apple and other stuff that just is over kill to use that. This is a function over fashion choice, what do you need not what do you think you want to carry cause you have 10 grand in knives.
Is this specifically Sebenzas/CRK's and Striders or is it more of a price-point issue. Because if it's an arbitrary exclusion of two popular brands regardless of price, I'll just say a Lochsa or Estrella. If it's a price limit, then I think you should pick some limit, arbitrary as it might be.

If this a "you can only carry this one knife for the rest of your life" challenge, in all honesty my answer has to be the small sebenza insingo. I got that as my first CRK less than a month ago, and no hyperbole, it's amazing.

If the challenge is a general "what knife meets all of your daily needs, that you like the best and costs less than the general price range of CRK's and Striders" then it would be the Spyderco Dragonfly 2 FRN w/ZDP-189 or the Bradley Alias 2.

I suppose we all have different preferences. For me, it's not inconvenient at all. I also like to carry a Pocket Bushman, which has perhaps the most "inconvenient" lock on a folding knife, but it is also the strongest. I guess I'm just not bothered by it.

Well to be fair I don't hard use any of my knivea, I use them a lot but it's just light duty tasks

I mean it isn't a price thing. I have seen similar threads like this and every post is a sebenza xm18 umnum or sng. I just wanna see what people would carry and use if that was out the question. I honestly feel like there is a big hype behind those knives. Most people get them and just have it in their pocket. You see people who will post a pic of their sebs strider etc ans their edc hard used user blade and it'll look like it was kept behind a sheet of glass.

Yeah, same here. For me, knives that mean a lot to me are either knives that just have everything I'm looking for, knives I use and carry a lot, and knives that symbolize something to me. Unfortunately, Chris Reeve's knives don't fit into any of those categories.

I think I would go with my 551 Griptillian. Pretty much does whatever I need it to.

But I have other nice knives, I'm glad I'm not really limited to just one. Imagine the horror!

I like my Smith&Wesson Homeland Security model, but I now can't carry it in Greenville City, Greenville, S.C. due to a new ordinance pasted by the City Council. The blade length is half an inch longer than they allow. Under the new ordinance, any knife with blade length over 3" is illegal to carry within the City Limits of Greenville City and will result in Arrest and Substantial Fine. But this is the knife I carry daily and I feel comfotable with ths knife.

Since you said knife I can carry, I will pick a folder since I can carry that every where with me. No fixed blades at work, not even supposed to have a folder but they don't really say anything about that.

Easy pick for me. Benchmade Adamas 275

Best folder I have ever owned. The only knife I would even consider to replace it would be a Demko AD-10, and I can honestly say I don't know if that would kick the Adamas out of my pocket.

My adamas was in its place in my pocket today as well.

but I think the benchmade 710 is an overall perfect knife,
Definitely my Adamas as well.

If I can only have one, I'm gonna go with my ZT 0121. Nicely sized at 4.25". Fixed, which is probably a downside as far as carry issues go (inconvenient but not illegal where I live), but it also has no moving parts and should hold up extremely well. The S30V blade should also hold up well.

I really like this little fixed blade. heavy duty and solid as sin. Great knife, IMHO.

My Elite Forces Survival Bowie Knife by Bud K is the bestest, most awesomest knife in the world. It puts all other knifes to shame!

Kabar Mule in Toxic, Zombie Killer Green. If I pull out a bigger folder, you will damn well see it! If I could make it glow in the dark, I'd do it. My Adamas would be a great choice too. Can I sneak both in??

Spyderco Military plain jane model . In the time it took me to type that I changed my mind 3 times haha. Good question!

Rules. Not fancy extra stuff. If you need one handed opening and a clip that's different but you don't need a sebenza or strider.
You would have to actually use it not stick it in the car and cheat with your multi tool.

Large sebenza 21, its had 90% of my pocket time and use over the past year, so poo poo on your rules :)

If the world had gone kaka I would take my busse tglb, but that would be a bit full on for the general population.
