Not sure if this was covered before, but I am looking for a knife that is classy/ gentlemanly/edc/ tough/nice looking/easy to maintain. Prefer folder with ~ 3 inchish blade.
Up to $500 budget, but less is preferred.
Currently thinking of crk mnandi. Any suggestions?

schuflea: Well built? are you talking about that knife you are not even allowed to tighten pivot without voiding warranty? With lock geometry so bad that it sticks if it gets any oil on it (not saying that you are allowed to do this). And it's so thick behind the edge that it's impossible to cut anything with it?

oprichnik: How about (small) Sebenza? But if you like Mnandi you probably should go with it.

I have insingo 21 already, looking for something else, though insingo is damn close!

Compact. With choil it still has a 3.1 inch cutting edge. Full and extremely ergonomic grip. Most comfy of the crk bunch IMO. Cannot say anything but positive things. Here is a pick and my review and use over the past 15 months of daily carry . It is also available in standard plain configuration , blue steam and elemental annuals if you can find them. I can't put it down.

The design and lock system assure reliable and consistent rock solid lock up and continuous smooth action with the pivot system with minimal maintenance. 👍

I purchased a hinderer XM-18 with 3 1/2" blade for $350ish like new no box, off the "for sale by individual" - exchange here. Man am I pleased for the money. Kinda get a little of everything. Though sometimes when I set my budget say $500, I would not max it.... sometimes the best deal is when you get the best bang for your bucks. I also gotten a CRK 21 off here for similar amount but too gentlemen for me, but if that's what you like then CRK is never disappointing. Good luck with your search.

A Victorinox Swiss Army Black ALOX Pioneer, it fits all your criteria save the blade length, it wipes the floor with those big single bladed folder when it come to doing it all, it will turn a screw, open a can, and drill a hole better than any one handed opener. Best part is they are under $40.

Leatherman Charge for a multi tool.
Hinderer XM18 3",CRK Inkosi or mini Bodega for a folder

+1. I work in an office setting and my "Volunteer Orange" SAK Cadet doesn't draw any attention at all being brought out in an office. The steel isn't sexy, but that blade slices like crazy and holds an edge for about anything I'm liable to do in a day. The tools make it even more useful.

Were I to deploy a flipper in the same manner, it certainly would draw attention. Fine if that is what you are going for.

I'm going to go along with Smith357 and 59Bassman, and recommend a multi-tool of some kind.

The thing about Swiss-Army-style knives, (and Leatherman multitools if you need something tougher), is that they don't get lumped into the same category by the non-knife people. Even the most gentlemanly of knives is going to draw more attention than a multi-tool.

guy is looking for $500 tough built and good looking CRK- caliber knife and some of you are recommending $30 SAKs:confused: I would go with Hinderer xm-18.

Well since your looking at the Mnandi(great choice), it doesn't seem like you want overbuilt but built well. I'll throw in a less expensive suggestion and say the BM 484 series. A good looker IMO.

Ti/Damascus Delica is a nice gentlemanly folder in the size range you are looking for that is quite a bit cheaper than you max limit.

If you're wanting something that small you're not going to beat the one you're already thinking about.
You have a plain small Insingo, but you could go with a small Carbon Fiber, CCG, UG, wood or Carbon Fiber inlayed Drop Point Sebenza. From your first sentence a nicer small Sebenza is what came to mind first for me.

SAK. Seriously. Save your money.

Yup; however, with a Farmer you also get a saw. Still under $40.

The OP's "do it all" criterion is a tall order. SAKs meet it better than all other knife recommendations thus far.
