One knife

Love that saber SHE, Niddhogg.

As for my choice, right now I'll take the MOAB. Obviously it's a great chopper. And as far as self-protection goes, I envision using two hands to somehow hold this knife off the ground and all the bad guys just impaling themselves on the blade in defeat. :D

NMSFNO for me.

My usual choice is the ASH-1. But..... We are also talking about self defense. A longer blade is best. 7 inches and more (gotta watch the weight. Too heavy and you loose manoeuvrability). Reach is important, but you still need to be able to do some basic bush crafting. A Kukri type knife is good at both self defense and as an all around bush tool. Has been for a loooong time.

Many Kukris can out chop a sword twice its length. Nice pointy end to stab/ jab with. Good as a draw knife, batton with it, carve etc....

4 inch category: SYKCO Skinner/Street Scrapper 4/SOB Competition Finish
5 inch category: Mud Mutt/Safety Mutt/INFIDU
6 inch category: TRASH-1/Hell Razor Terror Monkey/ASH-1 Fatty
7 inch category: Regulator/Sarsquatch/TGLB
8 inch category: Basic 8/HHFSH/HOGFSH
9 inch category: Chophouse Thick Cut/ASH-2/NMFSH
10 inch category: Basic 10/CGFBM/FFBM
11 inch: Basic 11/Battle Saw/NMFBM
12 inch: KZII/TTKZ/MOABOLO FFG
13 inch: SYKCO 1311/BB13/BB13 CG

Depending on the size range --- I'd choose these . . . The first one is the light option, the second is the middle weight, and the third is the heaviest. Depending on the need, situation, environment, and/or mood that day --- these are what I'd choose. If I had to choose one from all of these . . . I'd say it would be a dead heat between the Chophouse Thick Cut/HOGFSH/CGFBM

This is the best "one knife" answer.:thumbup:

Today I'll go with the B8LE, but sticking with what I have I could make a case for JMD, Boom Parang, or DTBM as well. Now that I think of it, a Rodent trail and the BP might make a nice combo.

The OP didn't specifically say "self defense". He said "survival against"... So, like I said:

I like what y'all chose. I'll take yours. ;)

Got ya!..... I just considered " survival against" and decided to include self defence. Seemed logical since he did include people as something to survive against. Surviving against is likely to bring one to have to defend oneself.

Anyhoooo........ I do love that Kuk & rig:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:;)

Thank you! :) Busse Combat & Chuddy Bear, they go well together.

In this hypothetical scenario, I read it to go beyond self defense, to also include offensive survival tactics against others who may be hostile as well. Who chose the DSF? Would make a great backup blade paired with the KZIILE; that guy's definitely a hostile neighbor... Sleep lightly! :D LOL

MOASH should not be forgotten to mention, even though I don’t own one yet!
I am sure, it’s owners will support this thread by some pics.

surprised I'm not seeing more love for just a straight up Fusion Steel Heart.. great mid sized blade..

Typical I would choose a one knife solution in the 5-7 range (tank buster - Ash), but with other people to contend with I'd want something a long and light. Probably a Battle Saw. No problem doing bushcrafty type stuff, but long and and agile, with a handle that feels very locked in.
