One more folder and I think I am done

I reached that point also, but I don't really want to stop the hobby, so I keep it down to two knife purchases / year, make it count and there is enough space for the honeymoons. I do sell what I don't use or want any more, but no pressure.

If I won the powerball, I would need a separate house just for my knives.

If I won the powerball, I'd open a knife shop.

If I won the lottery I'd build a mote around my property filled with alligator, hippo and the most venomous water snakes. On my side of the water I'd build a 5' thick x 15' tall stoned wall fence topped with electrified titanium concertina wire to keep the hands of the family I married into away. God Bless In-laws.

After many years of collecting, owning now over130 folders 75 fixed and or kitchen knives, 65 manufacturers, made with at least 60 different steels, way too many multi-tools and saks. I want just one more knife, sell a few and then I think I am done collecting. I can only use so many in my rotation and even with whatever latest drop that shows up, I find I do not want anything else. Not saying there not a lot of other great knives out there just that I am good with where I am at.
Is that all .
Well if you want to quit early . . . :)
I quit after I got my REX121 I never thought I would have a knife with THAT steel and when Gentleman Sal hooked us up ; I mean where is there to go from there right ? ! ?
That was the end of 2024.
Since then I have been really content .
I mean REALLY C O N T E N T !
Well I HAD to buy that birthday present to my self for my 65th birthday ; and yes it was the most expensive knife I have ever bought .
There was the odd acquisition here and there, purely for technical / scientific investigation ; you know for the good of man (and woman)kind . Just so I could write the review .
And . . . er . . . I bought a couple to mod , strictly to be used as "tools" at work , so I didn't have to defile one of the originals in my "collection" .
sothassaboutit fifteen this year . No big deal.
Done.

I had done pretty well for a few months before new years as far as not succumbing to temptation. I really don’t have anything else on my list, and in fact thinned the herd a bit, unloading a handful that I know I’d never, ever carry, and knew I wouldn’t miss. Two of them actually paid for a nice pair of stereo speakers I decided to treat myself to, which I’m quite enjoying now almost daily. Unfortunately there’s this thing called the exchange that I can’t seem to stay away from. I’ve picked up three more from there in the last few months (one being a TRM Neutron 2 on the way right now), all being paid for by another knife sale. Stuff I wasn’t looking for, but seriously caught my eye when they came up for sale.

I’ve got something in the neighborhood of 80 folders now, about a dozen SAKs/multi’s, and half dozen or so fixers. A couple of the fixers get used regularly, a couple of folders get carried regularly, a couple more get used occasionally around the house, but by far most of the folders are in cases and seldom see the light of day. Oddly enough, most of those have enough of some kind of attraction and/or made-up sentimental value (I.e. the reason I bought them in the first place) that I can’t bring myself to part with them. Some are just so cheap that they’re not worth selling once you factor in shipping, so I hang onto them just for the halibut. Bottom line is, I’m way beyond needing anything more, and certainly beyond paying more than $100-150 for anything that does catch my eye now. So I’m not actively looking for anything to add to the collection, but I am leaving open the possibility of stumbling across something that interests me enough to jump on.

You like halibut too !
It's a knice perk of knife collecting . Not everyone takes advantage of it though.

dang you !
I had forgotten about that.
Every once in a while I see a Spyderco with the web cut out in the blade ( ? Q or S ? ) and wish I had one . That was all before my time with Spyderco .
Some how I have been delusionally thinking I was safe from that significant hit to the wallet .
They must go for serious bucks .
I won't go and look .
I won't go and look .
I won't go and look .

Okay first Ha!........Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!

Now, enquiring minds want to know what is that one more knife?

It's been nearly a year since I've purchased a knife, and honestly, I'm quite happy with my small collection of 20ish folders and 2 fixed blades.

I've become exceedingly picky and eccentric with knife preferences, and most of my purchases over the last few years (that I've kept) have been between $400 and $1000.

I was already becoming less interested in acquiring when my life massively changed this past August.
Hopefully that means you had a kid, came up with a new hobby, A very expensive girlfriend or something else good.

after years of owning only a few Spydercos, I went on a steel collecting bin of Spyderco. At the end of last year and into this one I rounded out the PM 2, PM 3, Sage, Smock and Manix 2, collection with versions in M390, K390, S90V, Rex-121, Rex-45, CruWear, Magnacut, 15V, S110V, Maxamet and CVTS 204P. The one I want is the upcoming Sage 6 sprint in S90V, then I am good for now

NICE COLLECTION ! ! ! 🙏
I take back what I said .😔
I thought we were talking mostly old slip joints and a few good ones .😁 I guess all that 60 different steels had to be on something fun .

I was going to say in any case ; don't take what I said to heart / just joshing and yacking .
