One Pocket Knife For Life

I carried a Hen & Rooster #273 in stag for twenty years. I've owned many customs, both modern and traditional. But I think I would carry a GEC 15 single blade clip. A quality production knife is easily replaced if lost or damaged, and as much as I hate to admit it, might be a better choice for the long run.

There is just something about slip joints..... scale variety, blade variety and so forth that makes me want to have more in even the same pattern. Can't say that about most moderns. I would be very content with a 2-blade GEC #42. They aren't as easily replaced as a #15. However Northwoods often used that frame in their Madison Barlow which I own in one and two blade configurations.

I notice a lot of you would choose a fairly large knife. That might be a good idea. Since I first posted this topic, I've been thinking maybe a sodbuster would be the way to go.

I must admit, generally speaking I love my Spydercos and other like sized knives.

But in general I have small knife needs mostly. I wouldn't ever say that I would want to get by with only one knife for life either.

In fact I had the mini trapper out for tomorrow's carry.... But if I had to make a case for one knife to carry every day for life, I'd have to go with a sak. I had to go to my kitchen drawer to fish one out. I have quite a few knives in this size and quite a few more to get in this size..

I find that I can get by with a SAK Recruit. Slim and light, cap lifter for light prying. Might go with a Cadet II, because it's the same knife in Alox.

I'm going to get a 110. I like it, but I couldn't pocket carry it. I'd keep it in its belt sheath, on the belt. It's pretty big.

Well this has been around for five years already, think it's gonna keep working for another few decades.

My Dad gave me this Hen & Rooster knife 21 years ago. It doesn't get much pocket time anymore but it's very special to me.

My Mini-grip was my first "nice" folder and has stuck with me throughout the years. I'd probably go with either that, a vic tinker, or a TL-29 that I'm currently modding to have one main spear blade, cocobolo handles, and I might slap some nickel silver bolsters on for good measure.

Right now I can't think of a better all a rounder that I enjoy using as much as the Slysz Bowie. Carries small and discrete, love XHP, kinda big but not really, slices like a champ, amazing deployment and confident lockup, fits my hand better than most anything.

Any large sebenza 21 inlay would work for me.
It's my most carried, since it does so many things for me. The ease of cleaning and disassembly is huge for me.

If I had to carry a Buck 110 for life I wouldn't be upset.

No, but you'll list to side due to weight.

I sew a seam 1/2 way up my right rear pocket. It's about 2" from outer edge of the pocket.

This makes rear pocket carry easy. I rotate between a Buck 110 and a few large Opinels.

So, it's far too heavy, but let me tell you how to carry it? Come on dude, make up yer mind.

My small Sebenza 21 with Mammoth Ivory inlays. The day I received it in the mail, I had to go "rescue" a friend of mine who's boat sunk near the rocks in the ocean. While I was down there helping him out, his wife dropped my BRAND NEW knife onto the pavement and put a nice, solid ding in the Ivory inlays, and a good scratch in the polished titanium. I was mad about it for months, but I've decided it gives me a good story to tell should anyone ask, and it gives the knife its own story and character. As far as the rest goes, what can I say about a Sebenza that hasn't already been said time and time again?
