One thing that's locking up my IE6....

Aha! Posts crossed, but now I see Geothorn is not the only one affected after all. Back to the drawing board....
 
Hmmmm.....kinda funny that the only two computers locking up are the ones belonging to the two biggest bleeding vaginas on BF.

Guess what ladies? My avatar is the same as Rats sig picture.....and I don't seem to be locking anything up. I run IE6 and no problems on my end. As was posted earlier, quit looking at "alternative lifestyle" sites and maybe the problem will go away.

I'm sorry if my posting about Rat Finkenstein's signature freezing my browser has raised a ruckus with Rat Finkenstein and everyone else looking to pick a fight, but, if there are others having the same difficulty as me, then maybe a chain of coicidences could be added-up to discover the problem. I'm open to there being a difficulty at my end, upon my computer, but, until Rat Finkenstein started using the dated "chicletsforme.jpg" signature, I hadn't had any IE6 freezing unless it was caused by "iexplore.exe" 'Not responding.' I haven't had any "iexplore.exe" freezes for awhile now, when I've given the 'three finger salute,' and it was only any thread with a Rat Finkenstein post that caused IE6 to freeze.

If averageguy is also experiencing IE6 freezing up on threads containing Rat Finkenstein posts, as well as me, then our computers have something in-common...beyond Rat Finkenstein's signature freezing both of our browser's. The "obvious" cure would be to politely ask Rat Finkenstein to change his signature, but he would probably raise a stink to the U.S. Supreme Court about someone messing with his right to Free Speech.

I only came here to mention that something was freezing my browser in BladeForums, I didn't come to cause a ruckus. Some just look to cause problems, rather than help to cure them.

Replace "intelligence" with 'BS,' and that'll work.

This is pretty much what I knew you were getting at.

What if the issue is actually between your ISP and the image host? Changing the image won't help.

Should he have to change his signature if it is spyware (or another issue) on your machine that's causing this?

The problem is on your end. You can filter it easily enough yet you ignored my suggestion.

The issue could well be between my ISP and the image host. However, if, out of all of the surfing that I do, all of the images and advertisements that I download, Rat Finkenstein's signature sometimes loading, sometimes not, and ONLY Rat Finkenstein's "chicletsforme.jpg" is freezing my IE6, well, that would narrow everything down. Rat Finkenstein changing his signature would help, but, judging from his reactions, I somehow doubt that he would humor me, thusly.

No, obviously not. However (again), why is the same alleged spyware on my computer only freezing IE6 when I've loaded up a BladeForums' thread containing Rat Finkenstein's signature? That cannot be explained away by spyware.

Yes, I suppose that I could download the program that you suggested, however, what problems might that add, to what everyone is implying is my screwed-up computer? You think it's one problem, I think that it's another. I'd rather not have to add another program to my computer when all that's necessary would be for me to add Rat Finkenstein to my BladeForums ignore list. I've neither used my ignore list, nor tossed-out red chiclets (when that was available...), because I believe that everyone has the right to express their opinions, and I should read them, for their input.

Most everyone thinks it's my problem, my computer. I disagree, but, what with m1marty, Rat Finkenstein, and Ren the devil's trailboss telling me what's up, being so helpful and all, how can I refuse that help?

P.S. I'm not, at least, having the difficulty of my IE6 freezing up in posts where I'm using the "Quote" button, as others are experiencing. Could that be another clue to the wider spread difficulty?

I appreciate your trying to help, Ryan8, I really do. However, I think that excluding a file and image host merely so that Rat Finkenstein's unnecessary and worthless signature image doesn't crash my browser is way too extreme.

I'm certain that others use the same host, that have more worthwhile things to use that host for than for crashing browsers. I don't want to exclude everything from that host because something originating there may be worth seeing/reading.

I personally think it's a problem with your browser loading the image, not the image per se.

After you have done this, let us know if you still have problems.

You and Averageguy are the only people reporting this problem so far.

I've also had the thought that it may be browser time-outs that are effecting my browser with concern to Rat Finkenstein's image, as well. A 107kb image isn't all that large, however...except if it's coming from Germany, there might be a good bit of interference involved.

Just placing Rat Finkenstein on my BladeForums ignore list would solve the problem, but I'm loathe to do that because, whatever way Rat wants to treat me, he may, nonetheless, have something worthwhile to contribute.

It's easy enough to CTRL+ALT+DEL a frozen browser window. It's not like when Explorer.exe or iexplore.exe crashes, and every open window gets closed when they are end tasked.

Yes, thanks, I've disabled signatures in my User CP section. Yes, it has gotten rid of signatures, and, therefore, the image causing my browser to freeze.

Now everyone's signature is missing all because one signature froze my browser. Hopefully no one else will be required to shut off their viewing of all signatures at BladeForums because of this single individual's troublesome image.

No, they'll have the common sense . I offered you simple solutions, you chose to be unrelenting.

My solutions have less impact than disabling signatures, and there are other very, very significant benefits to getting slashdotted. You in fact chose the most extreme route and continued to whine about it.

JFC already........SHUT UP!! No one is removing their sig because only you and your buddy are having problems with it. Now your life is even emptier and more meaningless because you can't read everyones sig. Get over it.

I've not been "whining," chiclet whore. What's a "chiclet whore," one might ask? A chiclet whore is someone that posts at BladeForums with chiclets in their posts. They are people that don't realize that the Reputation Point system no longer exists, but they're holding onto their chiclets, for some reason. That would fall into the category of beating a dead horse.

I've chosen the "common sense" method of simply ignoring Rat Finkenstein. I was wrong in my above post that said that he had something to contribute. All that Rat contributes to is wasted bandwidth.

I apologize for not taking your advice, but, like other of your brethren, The Order of Chiclet Whores, I wouldn't take any advice that you'd give me. Ignoring Rat is the best, least extreme method to use...and, it wasn't one of your "helpful" suggestions. My signatures are again enabled, so, don't worry about the extreme choices I make, ok?

Again, I'm not whining, but, since you're deciding to use that word, in describing my post, I've decided that you aren't worth listening to, like all of the other chiclet whores. Congratulatons on all of your chiclets. They're meaningless and valueless...like your advice to me. Your suggestion of changing my HOSTS file was the most extreme suggestion yet given, and I'm glad that I knew to refuse it. Hopefully newbies won't follow your instructions without questioning them, first.

No thanks, chiclet whore. I don't listen to whatever you say, and, if anything, I'll keep writing, more and more, because you've told me to shut up. I think that doing exactly the opposite of what you tell me is the best thing to do.

I'm glad that the Pirate's Cove is around. Without you a**holes around, this place would be polite and civil and without insults. You don't realize that you wind me up, making me even less likely to shut up.

Did someone make you edit your post, second from the top of this page, for your "language?" Maybe you should just keep yourself in Whine & Cheese or the Pirate's Cove, where no one apparently cares that half of your vocabulary is vulgar?
