One Year With The Spartan Harsey Folder

How’s the opening action on the SHF? Is it smooth and tight like a Sebenza or more loose and free-dropping?

After a day of carrying and fidgeting, this knife is really growing on me and smoothing out. I haven't even cleaned it yet.

It's funny because it doesn't FEEL like it's made from titanium. It's a heavy cuss. I actually chuckle to myself because it sometimes reminds me of holding a Gerber steel framed junker just because those little knives always felt twice as heavy as they should be. I know it's just the sheer amount of titanium that certainly makes the knife stout. It'd throw your back out of it were steel.

I like the way it's a bit rougher around the edges. It's the kind of knife that once I forget gone much I paid for it, I'll use at work without a second thought. I use my Inkosi at work as well, but it's a little more sentimental to me than just expensive.

So far, I'm pretty pleased.

Mine's pretty tight and not as smooth as my Inkosi, but it's getting better. It's smooth but it does drag open a bit. Opening and closing it a few hundred times at work has helped a lot. I'm out of the thicker oil I like to use in the pivots and need to pick some more up. It feels like it's running pretty dry. Then again, it doesn't have grease pockets like a CRK.

So in my experience it's not all drop shutty, but I'm sure it could be tuned a bit lower. I prefer a tighter action to any play when the knife is locked open, so it doesn't bother me.

You know if you want to try one out, just shoot me a pm and I think we can arrange a play date with one.😉
Martin, you already know from past experience how bad I am about borrowing and accepting kindnesses of that sort. Just can't seem to do it. Thank you, brother.

You're the second person I've declined a generous offer from, (different knives, but someone who you're a fan of as well), in the past five minutes. I'm lucky to know such generous folks.

The best folding knife (for me). I have many knives, CRKs, iMamba, the different outsourced Reates, WE, Mcnees etc etc. What makes it in my pocket 95% of the time is a full-sized SHF. The quality is superb and they are tough (I beat up my knives). What I love and my wallet hates is the many designs and my gravitation towards half of them. It's an addiction.

EDIT: Like some have said, their customer service is also superb.

When I first saw the JOD, I knew I had to have one. Once it was in hand, I needed a second so I could baby the JOD.
Just do what I did and buy multiples 😆 Last I saw DLT still has some stonewashed JOD's in stock.. I broke down and bought another 😅.

If you want a 3.25 with a custom engraving, all you have to do is ask...

They charged me like $20 to have this engraved and anodized.

That's a beautiful knife and a heck of a deal!

I'm already at 4 total, I'm in Pokemon mode lol, looking for a watch model! This one just arrived today!

I'm still amazed that I'm at about $2k in just one brand, and still looking at more, nevermind the rest of the collection, but they truly speak to me. Handle and action just hit the button for me. If you want to support my habit, check out my soon to be posted sale ad of some others!

Whoa, that’s a beautiful knife. First tanto I’ve seen and really like frag pattern. I’m not big on all the ones with designs. I prefer plain janes but I do like textured patterns. Also a big fan of tanto’s. That’s the first tanto I’ve seen.

My question is, are tanto’s hard to get? And is that exact model readily available. Out of everything I’ve seen that’s the one for me. Any info on how to go about getting one would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

And so, Mitch's short lived hiatus was interrupted by visions of sugar plums dancing in his head...

Haha, is it still a spending freeze if ya sell em to buy em?

Patience is not a virtue of mine but I’m working on it. I’ll enjoy the hunt for that model next year.

Maybe by next year norcalAF will have moved on to bigger n better things and will be selling that one to fund his Les George purchases! 😉

Selling in order to buy is a time honored tradition.

(But I don't even need that excuse when I haven't sold anything. Fortunately my last couple of sales have spared me that anxiety.)
