Ongoing Details for the 2016 Bladeforums knife.

That typo even made it to the production bin in the "what's happening" picture of the bone slabs.

It's very confusing because it was clarified last week that both 35's are spears but production images (not the production schedule) list a clip, and the early reserve for the SFO ebony today listed clip. I feel like we're beating a dead horse, but the horse keeps getting up everytime...

Just FYI guys and gals, the ebony version is Waynorth's SFO and he will be distributing them through the normal channels (check his webpage) - it is not a clip, but a spear blade AFAIK

Awesome! I think I poked myself just looking at the point on those punch blades.

Thanks for the pics, Barry!

You will be surprised how handy " the pokey thing" is. You should grab one. Looking great so far.

Agreed. I prefer a punch over a pen blade as a secondary. I'm always amazed how often I find a use/need for a punch when I carry a HJ. My all-time favorite configuration is the recent cattle knife set up we saw on the 98 (clip + sheep + punch). Now...if we could get that in something smaller! The fact that this BF knife lacks the sheep is nothing, considering we're talking about a single spring! Wonderfully useful knife this will be.

Thanks for the update Barry, lookin' good, can't wait to see how the scales come out. :) Thanks for all the work everyone.

I agree with MCar, a three blade version should be in the near future. Just ad a sheep or spey and call it a day.

I had never understood the attraction of a punch until I started carrying a scout knife for work recently. At first it was just to give the knife some pocket time, but I actually use the punch a LOT. That was just a couple months ago, so I ended up being retroactively happy with the punch on this year's knife.

We'll see how the carbon steel holds up. I've never carried a carbon steel pocket knife. I sweat a lot, live in the NW, and go to the coast frequently, so I've always opted for stainless. This will be an experiment.

So out of curiosity, what have you guys used the punch for? It seems like a stabbing tool, which always seemed problematic on a non locking knife.

The uses for a stout pokey pointy sharp thing are almost endless [emoji4]

What I like most about this project is watching it slowly develop with that nice warm feeling of - I've already paid for mine...

drilling holes in wood or leather, reaming, scraping flash off hard plastic after cutting/sanding it, loosening knots?

All of the things 1066vik said. It also is great to use for eating fruit, perfect for grapes. Removing splinters, cleaning finger nails, and for prying small things out of small places.

The punch also works pretty well as a package opener, it's sharp on one edge with a point tip so it pokes right through and slices things open. Not to bad for getting the peel started on an orange either.
