Ontario Utilitac II - Best modern folding knife under $30?

The Utilitac is a great knife, I will have one of the satin blades coming soon...

I hope this will not go for off topic but since we are talking about Mr Pardue,
I think I'm good posting two short videos that I shot last week with him on the SHOT Show, he's talking about two new knives coming in a few months:

Sorry for the bad quality, new camera....

Not off topic at all. Thanks for the vids, man. I'll check 'em out asap.

Here's mine fellas, I have sold off many of my budget folders but I will never sell this one. I just like it too much.

Mine just arrived. Not as sharp as my RAT-II was out of the box but I can fix that (I hope).

I hate threads like this, that bring awesome, cheap knives to my attention that I really don't need... damn obsession!

This. I mean it was already in my attention, but seeing this thread pop up most days is really wearing down my resolve, lol.

Just got mine! It will see a lot of pocket time; it's a big knife that doesn't ride like a big knife, it's heavy, but doesn't feel heavy. It fits my hand almost perfectly and deploys very quickly. I might have to buy a second one before everyone finds out how great they are and drives the price up:)

Still waiting for information on the new assisted Utilitac. It seems people took pictures of every booth at SHOT except OKC's this year. Honestly, I look more forward to the G10 grips than assisted opening.

This thread needs more pictures.

Sorry haven't checked this thread since I ordered mine. I hope to have it in a week , I got the satin plain edge tango , I think ?

When I get paid next week I've decided to finish my Utilitac family. I currently have the coffin handled drop point and the round handle tanto point, both in black. To finish my family I'll be ordering a coffin handled serrated tanto and a satin finish round handle drop point. This will likely finish my Utilitacs, though I MAY eventually pick up a combo edge drop point, but I'm not certain on that.

Haha that's awesome! You've just inspired me to do the same. I'm picking up a Blur off the exchange, so I'll have to wait till the next check. But I'll be damned if these aren't some of the best blades for the money.

thinking about pulling the trigger on the satin tanto version with coffin handle because the place I'm buying from doesn't have the round handle.

I usually go for non tanto but I don't really like that recurve on the drop point and that utilitac tanto is too sick to pass up.

I agree 100% I actually just suggested one to my supervisor a few days ago when I brought mine into work. I have the tanto version and out of my 45-50 knives I think it was the sharpest out of the box and still might be the sharpest. I also find mine to be silly smooth for the amount of money I paid which I think was 26$ shipped. Love mine!

Can't go wrong with that tanto blade! And don't think twice about the coffin handle. It's actually a lot more ergonomic than it seems at first glance. Another thing worth noting is that the liner lock isn't recessed on that coffin version, meaning a little more security. If you go back a page or 2 you'll see a member who posted pics of the liners side by side.

Awesome. I cranked the pivot on mine so it's nice and tight, no blade play at all, and it still deploys effortlessly! I expected the action to choke up a bit, but this thing still fires out like nobody's business.
