Openers, Picks and Steel Thumbnails

I'm not sure if this qualifies, but I don't believe I've seen it here yet

Sure does qualify. It is a Pick and I used to have one but somehow misplaced it. Technically you should get both Picks, from Rob and me, and so it shall be! I actually have a couple of spares of the GAKC one as I am a member there. PM me your mailing address and I will get it right out to you. Thanks for playing!

OFFER IS STILL GOOD FOR A GAKC PICK AS PICTURED ABOVE TO THE NEXT PIC OF A PICK NOT PIC'ed ABOVE!

This is not an entry, but thank you for the offer. Was inspired by this thread so I thought I'd make a pick out of a piece of scrap Mammoth Ivory and try matching the jigging and colour of my 85 harness jack. Not finished yet but thought i'd post it anyway. Great thread.

Best regards

Robin

Robin that looks great. Please let us see it when you have it all prettied up. As for the GAKC Pick this is not a contest and you certainly are entitled to one. I will keep giving them away to new posters of new pics until I run out. PM me your mailing address if your want one. Thanks for playing!

Robin, I love seeing your work. I like the proportions of the piece and angles of the pick "head" (for lack of better term). I look forward to pictures of the completed pick!

Here's mine in action:

OK, now I need one of those Champlin's, sweet looking knife, and as one of the principals is here in NE PA I have to support the local economy...not that I don't already support the PA economy with all my GEC's, Case and Queen knives, not to mention Zippos :D

Here's mine in action:...

We love pistachios around my house and I keep a pick in a kitchen drawer for exactly the same reason. Just right for the shells that opened a tiny bit but not enough for a finger nail.

Exactly. My mom would yell if I used my teeth. Something about how much my folks spent on braces. :D

Even though I've seen the AG Russell Steel Thumbnail™ with other known objects in pictures before, I was still surprised at how small it was. (Despite its appearance above, the black tab on it isn't scuffy-looking in real life, and its etched logo is still black.) I really like its size and proportions.

That said, the angles of the GAKC make it easier to use than either of the GECs, and its in-hand-length could come (more) in handy. I look forward to finding out.

Thanks so much, guys! All of a sudden, I have an Underdog* blade pick collection. :)

The GAKC should sell these as a fund raiser? anyone have an extra for sale?

No commerce in the the thread but if you send me an email with your address I will send you one. You did after all post a picture of one:D

If you have already posted in this thread, Post 1 - Post 57, and you want one of these openers, just let me know by posting that you want it. It is a brand new AG Russell version. The only requirement is that you must have previously posted in this thread. What a deal, eh?

I must have forgotten to subscribe to the thread. I posted #33 and would love to have a proper steel thumbnail if they're still available.

Though this works too:

S. Porch, guess I wasn't clear, I only had one to give away and Sarah was the first to ask for it. Sorry, sir.

(Brad, hope you didn't mind me me sticking my nose in your thread.)

I have to use this for now.

Now, there's an interesting design! I'd think the curve was a little to excessive to be truly helpful, but I guess it will do in a pinch -- especially when a blade can't be pinched.

I sure hope you didn't pay more than a dollar for it, though. ;)

I SURE DIDN'T!
