Opinel Mods, lets see them

Here is my set:
#6 Carbon on bottom, #7 Carbon is the next up, then a stainless #8 Garden, then a #9 Carbon.
I can't ever leave a stock Opinel alone. The Garden is the least modified of the bunch, but still smoothed out a bit.
All of them have a smooth grey natural patina. These knives were made to be used and cut better than any other folder in my collection. They do wonders slicing up fruit!

The #6 is definitely the most modified:

The #9 was my only knife (aside from a SAK I took hiking) for 4 months in Italy. It was my daily lunch knife:

Fantastic mods and carving, very impressive. This ones been up before and is my attempt at a bit of scrimshaw like scratch carving. I've also stained the handle, fixed a bail and lanyard and forced a patina on the blade which also has some accidental water damage (which I kind of like). I use the knife for fishing, so one side depicts a perch and the other a pike. Pretty crude I know but fun to do. Many thanks.

Second Opinel no8 I modified. Reshaped the handle and force patina the blade with mustard. I think I'm going to reshape the blade next.

Here was the first. Sadly I lost it on a hike. Hopefully it found a good home.

To get the darkened areas on the handles, are you all flaming the handle? I like that look more than some of the stained handles I've seen and would probably be easier to accomplish than staining from what I've read.

This one of my favourites

, sadly the other that I like a lotI have no pics and was a 7 customise to scimitar blade for carving.
Beech is harder to carve than other woods but it's worthy.

This one was an old knife that one of my daughters found in the bush. After twenty years or so, I got around to re grinding the blade to a Wharncliffe and made a new handle out of walnut

I love the carvings on both of these. You both have some amazing talent. Kudos :thumbup:

Lightly scorching makes them take stain better. The darkened areas are scorched a bit more I'm thinking.

I did make my dark marks using a stove. You can also use a candle or any other type of burning device. The longer you hold it over the flame, the darker the mark and the deeper the penetration. You will lose some material if you go for a long burn.
