Opinions on the Kershaw Blur?

Here is another picture of the wavy grind line (this one is actually my picture, this time!)

Here are a couple more I took today.....:D

For what a 'blem' S30V Blur runs, I'd grab it! The WallyWorld Blur is black - blade and handle - and Tanto shaped. The only thing that could have detracted more from my desire with that one would be serrations! Heck, it could have had them! Another plus - the blem is cheaper shipped - even before tax - no brainer.

The Sharpmaker was my best all-around knife purchase - it has resurrected a ton of 'butter knives'. Sadly, I've spent an hour looking for mine (I'll be sixty-one in days... lots of things hide from me nowadays...). I cut roots in a hole I dug to 'plant' our fourteen year old black cat Sheba today. I used my Spydie Native (S30V) - it needed touch up anyway. Man that blade metal cuts! I 'planted' my Kershaw Scallion (440A) several years back when patching a water leak - remebered it that night and dug it up the next day - and resurrected it, too. That Sharpmaker is a great aid.

As for the standard Kershaw steel, and the dates they began production, this link will give you info on the introduction dates for 13C26, and all Kershaws began shipping the 14C28N in January 2009. S30V, SG2, and S60V are identified on the blade itself.

Check the Born On date and you can tell what steel is in your knife.

I don't really like the handle design of the Blur. I prefer the Leek, but thats just me. I wish they had the SS handle version with S30V...theG10 on the Leek looks cheap to me (and makes it thicker).

S30V Leek with SS handle? Look into the Random Leek. It's partially serrated, but it's a dandy. You could always do a blade swap as well.

I don't like the blade on the leek: aesthetically, I find the curve on the Blur much more nice looking.

Bump? Speed Bump? Spec Bump? Al Bump? All are great knives! SpeedSafe with a stud lock!

Seriously, if you're looking for a very nice knife at a great price, and plan on using it, you can't beat kershawguy's deal on the S60V Blurs. The things are stupid sharp, even with the slight grind wave, and the edge will stay with you long enough to save up for something to sharpen it with.

If it were my decision, that's what I would do.

finally got a black blur- liking the feel in hand and strong assist...wondering why I waited so long...

...oops, didn't realize this thread was so old- got a bit too excited...

LOL, some of the older posts are more exciting than the new one's.
You get to see the rare knives in their infancy when they cost so little.

DARK IMPALER is suitable for that knife pictured!

I recently bit the bullet and got a Blur just like yours. It is a great EDC knife! I saw a thread on the Kershaw forum with some rather large Blur collections, I'm hoping I can live vicariously through their pictures so I don't have to start collecting them myself!

other than the fact that the handle is rough on pockets, i like the blur and have used it extensively...i got an s60v and as long as you touch it up on some kind of steel it's easy to keep sharp...i don't want to think about sharpening it up when it's really dull...

i also use the safety blur; that one is easy to keep sharp...(i use a sharpmaker too)

Don't worry about buying the blem. I think Kershaw will still ship replacement parts. Other that a stripped screw or broken torsion bar, I don't know what could go wrong. I have the s60v Blur blem and it's been a great edc. I bent the heck out of the clip one day when it caught on a railing and they sent me a replacement with a new set of screws.

I had an all-black Sandvik Blur but it wasn't my cup o' tea. It's a fine knife, very stout and sturdy, and opens with a very satisfying "THWACK!!!" Picture, if you will, a heard of peacefully grazing antelope on the Savannah startled by a sudden noise. That's the reaction you get if you casually thumb-open a Blur in public... :D

Yeah, I'm not a "THWACK!!!" kinda guy. I wasn't a fan of the Trac-Tec inserts either. YMMV. The Blur went to a buddy who really loved the knife.
