because i love a strong blade. my shallot damascus is a user and i couldnt be happier. strong blade retention is my preference. i want a shaving edge that lasts days, weeks even. I work hard and i want my knife to also. Second best is my cb leek, d2 holds up really well against hard use as well

Ahhh, you have an all black Skyline. That was going to be my next mini-project after I get the Damascus one, than a Lansky System, and than a Pelican Case 1300. I do like how that TiLT clip rides though.
 
There is just so much epic in this thread. I have to express that I'm glad to be here. Thanks for being a great community guys, really.
 
If you get a lansky system, you need to get the diamond system. the diamond system is much much more effective, which is cheapest on amazon. I have both systems

Yeah I saw that. I like how it has the check-boxes on the bottom of the product page if you want to get the sapphire stone/rod and the pedestal thing.
 
the sapphire stone is TOTALLY worth it. i have both kits, the regular and the diamond, plus the sapphire and leahter strop stone. I actually really like them. I have redone all the way up to elmax from the basic sandvik and vg10 on Shun knives and no issues. its all about setup and you can get a razor blade edge. I use paper strop after everything and get a mirror edge too

So get the one that says "Lansky Diamond Deluxe Sharpening System with Extra Coarse, Coarse, Medium and Fine Hones"? Than get the sapphire stone and leather strop stone?

Yes I mean profile pic aka avatar. I know the picture is small, just wanting to know if anyone can tell what the picture is.
 
Your in a small propeller plane of some sort. I can tell because I see the tail wing, and the cables that connect to the main wing.

as far as the sharpener goes, i would get the 4 stone diamond system with extra course, course, medium and fine and add on the sapphire stone, then get a leather strop, not necessarily the lansky leather strop, i use a leather belt to strop my knives lol

So this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000B8L6LS/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1359863448&sr=8-1&pi=SL75? Than I'll get the sapphire stone/rod. I'm also going to get the Universal Mount, because I don't trust myself lol. What exactly does stropping do? Doesn't it "bring" out the steel? I should have a leather belt laying around.
