I think stick uses an edge pro, I went for the Wicked Edge personally but both can produce awesome edges easily and mirror polishes with some practice, patience, and time.

Correct, I do use an Edge Pro. I've come to be quite proficient with it, which I expect comes from doing 4 0560s, two rounds of a 0550 and a crap ton of kitchen knives. The 0303 was the most challenging for me because of the pronounced curve of the belly. The recurve isn't a big deal.

I personally don't like to do the rigmarole of moving far up the grits and polishing the edge. I've found the point of diminishing returns to be right at the 400 grit. Anything passed that is wasted work. I've also noticed that after a week of maintenance on a strop, the edge is pretty polished off and the toothy edge becomes much finer of its own accord.

That's just me though. It seems that most people dig polished edges.

Guys, check out the DAM Skyline in the trade forum, he also posted in the DAM photo thread here.

The guy wants a DAM Leek straight up, you could order one from Dave direct. I'd actually snag it if I didn't already have like 4 of them. :D

I emailed him to work something out. Thing is he wants a straight across trade and the Leek is about $30 more than the Skyline. Not sure I'll do it if that's what he wants.

Just lemme know which knife you send. Just so you know. The Blurs bevel may be a bit "cloudy" I have trouble with kershaws that have the small flat portion (0560, Blur etc.) They tend to move a tiny bit thus altering the angle very slightly. It will be just as sharp as a knife with a mirror (or close to mirror) edge but not quite as vivid.

Would the Griptilian be easier, since it has a nice flat part of the blade?

Yeah the grip would probably be a bit easier plus M4 is really easy to reprofile/sharpen. It doesn't have to be the grip though. Send whatever you feel needs it the most. I don't mind a challenge.

Well. My dog got sprayed by a skunk last night so I have that to take care of today. Gonna be so much fun. she sleeps in my workshop at night because it gets too cold outside at night. Well my workshop is right next to my room so the smell woke me up at 4:30 AM and I couldn't get back to sleep. Damn skunks.

My dog got sprayed once. The smell didn't fully go away for a month.

You should eat the smell off :p.

Just completed my American History Writing Exam. I had to write two separate essays about two different topics.

I was thinking of getting a nice sharpener but I dont like the time requirements. So it looks like Im going to pick up a nice paper wheel. I managed to get my 0301 sharp with a old crappy one.

Does strapping make a noticeable difference in maintaining an edge?
