Order of KAI Official Hang Out; Part Deux - It's Enrico Palazzo!

You know you probably won't be able to weaken the detent, right? the lockbar insert doubles as a Lbs and it's damn near impossible to remove

This is disappointing. I like the knife, but if I can't take it apart because of issues with the screws, than that's kind of....dumb I'll say.

you'll get it bro. try using an allen key as the other driver if you have one that fits. you could also press the other end of the pivot against something hard so it won't spin. or just get some man fingers.

To take it apart, you'll need two of the same driver for the pivot. It's still a T8 I think, but you'll need to have two. The detent weakens with use, and while mine is fairly strong still, it's much quicker to deploy and a bit less grabby than when it was new.

The second one I have was very weak, and I had to adjust it. At first, I bent it in too far and the detent was way too strong, so I found a way to weaken it a little bit. It took my torch lighter and a couple of tries but it worked out pretty well. Essentially, I opened it so that the detent ball sit on the blade, which is about as far out as it normally goes. Then I heated up the lockbar cutout with the torch flame and let it cool. I did that a few times, taking care to not let the heat build up anywhere else on the handle (and risking the blade heating up). The detent weakened slightly, but was still strong.

If you're willing to do that, great. If not, just futz with it. It gets looser, and your finger will get used to it. I guarantee you though, however strong it is, it's not as strong as a Rexford custom. Those are crazy.

Even if I can get it apart, I probably won't be able to soften up the detent. I've tried my fingers, and that hurts like a MOFO. I've tried a hard surface (the table and wall) and it still spins. Don't get me wrong, besides the screw problems, I love it.

Found this review of the leek on amazon.

I paid the full price for the 440a stainless steal blade rating and they sent me the 1660 version. I was very disappointed needless to say. I will return and get a full refund and order from elsewhere.
