just like that, my 0600

I've gotten close to a mirror edge. I don't normally strive for them, but I've come close with just the 1,000 grit stones and strops since my 1,000 has worn in a decent amount. I don't have the ceramics, so a real mirror polish is something I can't do. Not likely that I will get those stones, as I don't find that type of edge useful for what I use my blade for.

I have to agree, for a useful edge, the 1k grit stones are kinda perfect. for a really razor edge, and spending a crazy amount of time, it does make a SHARP knife. Scary sharp if im honest, but its not toothy. If you want a mirror edge, i could do it for u as i have the ceramic stones and 5, 3.5, 1.0 and .5 strops

What's the difference between the regular Wicked Edge stones and the Chosera Stones, minus that the Chosera Stones go to a crazy high grit?

Justin, your light actually has a neutral white emitter, instead of the high CRI. It does have a higher CRI than a cool white, but if you get a high CRI from Foursevens, the Cree LED will have a really warm tint that looks like an old incandescent bulb. It looks really charming, but I think neutral whites are nicer to use.
Shows how much I know!

Why did i have to be sleeping this morning? A Curtiss F3 went for 375 on the exchange.... GAHHHH!!!!!! that makes me angry.

As greenie said, the regular stones are dry, and not what one would conventionally call consumable. They use diamonds for abrading, as opposed to the Choseras. The Chosera stones are made by Naniwa, and are high end Japanese waterstones. They are actually very aggressive and leave a very nice finish on the edge, but they are pricy and wear down since they are more of a traditional stone. Diamond stones will eventually wear out and not cut well, but they won't wear a concave shape into the surface or "dish out" as some say. That is something that happens to traditional stones, and they have to be flattened, or lapped.

The Choseras will wear out like that, which in the long run will alter angles and make consistency an issue. I prefer diamond stones since even if they wear, there's no angle changes or flattening. They also last much longer.

This is Burton. He's a pitbull/rottweiler mix. And no, he doesn't go around killing everything in sight. Not that you guys assumed that, but everyone likes to. Just thought I'd clear that up.

I'll think about it, i know amirror edge isnt necesary, ijustwant to havethe smoothest edge possible for my soon to be first zt

High grit finishes are best for chopping. Or knives with real thin geometries. Due to the thinness behind the edge their cutting aggression will already be higher.

If you want different stones for your Wicked Edge in the future I would talk to Ken Schwartz. He is insanely knowledgeable on stones. If I recall correctly, he is also the stone cutter for the Chosera stones for the Wicked Edge. I know for sure for the Edge Pro.

From what I have gathered too, natural stones can go higher in grit, not only from the swarf breakdown, but also in general.
