Ordering from BladeHQ.com

I'm glad you are able to move forward. I hope this experience doesn't put you off from buying from BHQ in the future. They really are a class act. BHQ is my go-to online vendor and they always do a great job. I got a bad knife from them one time and Tyson bent over backwards to fix it for me. After that experience and seeing how much they cared about making me happy, I decided to always go to BHQ first when looking for a new blade.

I always ask the company I am ordering from to inspect the knife before shipping for any defects. One vendor wouldn't ship the last one in inventory because it was defective. I appreciated that.

The companies I have dealt with, and BladeHQ is one, have been uniformly excellent.

1. I have never had a problem with BHQ. All OK.
2. The retailer AND the manufacturer are responsible for quality.
3. BHQ recognizes point #2

I ordered a US-made Gerber knife from Blade HQ, when it arrived I noticed it had a terribly uneven grind so I called them about sending it back for a refund. They were willing to process a refund, but wanted me to pay for return shipping AND pay a 5% restocking fee. I have to pay $8 return shipping AND an $8 restocking fee for something that is defective from the factory that they sold me? Really?? Lesson learned for me, I guess.

just because we perceive something as a flaw or defect does not make it a defect. A sloppy cutting edge on a knife is not the stores fault. But it can easily be fixed with a sharpening stone. If you want to argue aesthetics and symmetry, you should take it up with the manufacturer. Some folks have unrealistic expectations, as the original poster demonstrates. If the knife is/was truly mechanically defective, that is a different story. Did the knife you receive cut? As for the restocking fee, most stores will charge you to restock a knife if you change your mind.
