ORDERS ARE CLOSED! 2023 BladeForums.com Traditional Knife.

The pulls on mine are about perfect (in my opinion). Definitely a little above average, which I like, but not hard to open.

The pen blade gets tight going from half stop to open, but a little oil and working it will smooth it out no problem. I haven't cleaned it out yet, so I'm sure that will help.

I don't exactly know how y'all do that number system on the pull It's definitely much stronger than a Case but less than a Wrights lambsfoot lol!

The 1 - 10 blade opening scale is a personal preference thing, and I doubt any two people agree. I did a thread a while back where I measured the actual opening force of a handful of knives. It was an interesting excercise, but completely unexciting. Here it is if you're in the mood for a nap:

amen, if there was a standard on heavy pulls, i think the wrights lambfoot would be it.

Ha! Maybe that's a better system. My pen is much stronger than a Case and a bit stronger than a Wrights lambsfoot. I was initially put off by how stiff my Wrights came, but it loosened up with use and some oil. I have high hopes for this one as well.

I took it out to the yard this morning to gather some herbs. There's a big pot of beans bubbling on our stove for tomorrow's recovery meal. My wife is running with Team World Vision, and I think they're having Lou's pizza after the marathon. I'm not usually a quick learner, but prior experience has taught me that my stomach doesn't handle greasy pizza very well after a long run.

By the way, I don't think this has come up often, but I love the shield on this! The whole package reminds me of a slightly sized/gussied up Case 08 whittler. I'll have to take some comparison photos after things settle down on my end.

It's like the "Rate your pain" scale at the hospital, with 1 as nothing hurts and 10 as the worst pain you have ever felt in your life. Depending on your life experiences, 10 could be anything from a hangnail to the parachute didn't open. For the opening scale, 1 is "pops open with a stern look" and 10 is "I pulled my entire thumbnail off trying".

Someone somewhere said that on a 1-10 scale of blade pull, 5 is an equivalent to SAK blade pull and taken as perfect, i.e. golden mean. That makes mentioned scale way more understandable, I think.

Couldn't be better, many thanks to Spark and GEC for spoiling us like this!
The perfect gentleman's edc pocketknife, in my opinion. I hope they run this pattern again, I would be keen to try one *not* reversed, with a front hump instead of back hump.

Hey my dudes, I will resume getting knives out tomorrow or Monday depending on how things wrap up here. Thanks for your patience and support thus far. Those of you who've gotten knives, I hope you are enjoying them.

Oddly enough, when I first saw the proposed Forum Knife, my reaction was luke warm. Luckily, I came to my senses! 😂

This is my first Forum Knife, and I absolutely love it. GEC did a great job with this one, and a HUGE thank you to Spark for all of the work involved in bringing this project to fruition! 👍🏻
