Oregon knife Show

You can definitley take "trade bait". You should also take your knives "with issues" and at least talk to the Reps. I don't know who most of the Reps are or what knives with issues you have, but I do know Great Eastern Cutlery will be represented by Chris Tucker. That is who you would be dealing with even if you shipped a knife back to Titusville. With the Reps, and other vendors and collectors, just be polite, ask permission to handle they're knives, and have a good knife time!

Yep, I always take trade bait, and I am going to bring my Schatt and Morgan 2012 two blade jack to leave with Ryan Daniels at the Mason Dixon knife show. The springs are a little proud on it, but when in the half stop positition, they sit pretty low inside the frame/liners.

I have a GEC Calf Roper with the main clip blade that sits just a little high and the tip actually catches your skin if you drag your finger across the knife while in the closed position. Pretty minor issue really and maybe even one I could fix myself if I had the know how. The other is a Buck 309 Companion that has tons of blade play and the pins are sticking out from the bolsters a little bit. I've already been in contact with them but just haven't got around to shipping it out.

I'm getting nervous because I have this gut feeling I'm going to leave this show a very poor man!

I'd sure like to be there but I can't. Maybe next year after we get moved into the new place.

Well now. Something else did come along and true colors were shown. Somebody or other is now persona non grata.

I am ever grateful to the mop-up crew!!

Back on topic, I can't help but daydream about the upcoming show!
Will I find some outstanding knife (knives), long undiscovered?
Will someone plunk a grimy paper bag on my table, as has happened in the past, and ask me if I want to buy a bunch of old, oily (thank God) knives?
It hasn't failed yet; no matter how hard I resolve to sell more knives than I buy, somehow my collection barely shrinks!!
People in Oregon know it is better than a yard sale, to go to the show to get rid of unwanted (relative term) cutlery!
Remain calm, Charlie!!:D

"Gold is where you find it". So I'm told. Well hope I find some hidden treasures at the 'big show'. Gonna be my first time -sooooo looking forward to it. Hope to meet some of you there. I collect traditional pockets. I will have an interesting Premier Lifetime Knives display case on my table that came out of a 1940s era hardware store in Vancouver BC. My name is Rick. Charlie knows me.

You will have an enjoyable time there Rick! I guarantee it!

I a, sure it is accurate...however, ours is listed in my name rather tha n our business name.

I need to lurk these forums more closely. Just found out about this show a couple days ago and had to change my Saturday plans as a result. My wife got excited when I told her about it and is on board as well for the drive down from Portland. Looking forward to a day full of knifey stuff! I'll be the 6'4" white guy with the 5'3" Hawaiian wife. We're pretty easy to spot.

I planned on going on Saturday but some stuff has come up so now I won't be able to make it until Sunday. I have this feeling like I'm going to miss out on all the good deals but I keep telling myself that maybe there will be some deals at the end of the day on Sunday because people won't want to take back a bunch of inventory with them. lol Probably just wishful thinking. Is it appropriate to try and get a lower price at a knife show or is it whatever the marked price is take it or leave it?

Thank You, I just printed it out and am highlighting my MUST see tables first.:D

I did the same thing lol. I have a feeling I won't be able to make it to every table. They said on the news here a few hours ago that people come from around the world to go to this show. Sounds a little far fetched to me but I could be wrong.

Does anyone know if this is accurate: http://www.oregonknifeclub.org/Tableholder List_2013_02.pdf
It's from their website, so it should be, but I was surprised to see Chai Cutlery (did someone buy the name?). And no listings for Benchmade, SOG, Leatherman, Kershaw, CRKT, CRK, Busse, Emerson, Strider, and a lot of others I'd expect to be there.

Every year I see the owners and tables of Buck:D and Spyderco. All the lazy Portland Oregon knife companies have not been in the last 5-years that I have been attending. Their loss as I have drifted away from them.

It doesn't surprise me that Gerber and Leatherman don't come and I can't say that I care to be honest but Benchmade and especially Kershaw is disappointing to say the least.
