Oregon knife Show

It was a great show!
We set out for the 7 hour drive early thursday morning. I stopped just over the border to pick up Great Eastern's stock (four big boxes - just liftable!) and left the country . . . . . . . . .ummmmm, I mean loaded them onto the pickup, and headed to Oregon!
Nice drive through the rugged lush green country that is the coastal rain forest, though we got mostly sunshine.

Early Friday (8:30) we joined the small crowd of keeners that like to horse-trade for a couple of hours before opening! Four of us from Canada, my friend Tom, from Winsted, Connecticut, the old home of Empire Knife Co, and Christine from Great Eastern, we formed a goodly portion of the crowd!
10AM the doors open, and club members and table holders flood in to set up, and look around, renewing old aquaintances etc.
I got busy this year, hoping to cover my expenses, and purchase a few goodies, on my relatively new lower retirement income. Did O.k, too!
I found out that Christine's birthday was Thursday! So the bunch of us went to dinner, then sprung a piece of cheesecake on her with a candle in it, and sang happy birthday, joined by a couple of other dinner goers!! A good time was had by all.

Eugene Oregon is a historical town, housing the University of "O" in the middle of it. It's full of great, reasonable restaurants and local brew-pubs. A wonderful place to visit, knife show or not!
I, and a friend from Canada set up back to back to a nice couple, Rick and Patt, who run a sizable book store. They have the biggest collection of knife and history books I have ever seen, and I always bring home one or two (this year three!) knife books.
360 tables this year plus a lot of great historical displays; swords and knives from all over the world. Also hatchets, axes, tomahawks, and everything that goes "CUT"!

It was great to meet a few faces from here, and give way some knife picks!

I am such a social dummy, I forgot my camera! I hoped others would pick up the slack, but alas, it was not to be! I hope more pics show up though, once people get settled!!

My booty will show up here soon, as soon as I put everything else away and unpack!
Nice to have gone, and nice to be home!

I meant to have Christine introduce us.... oh well, next year. Chris is a great lady. Enjoyed visiting with her.

So...not so great a pics. But it was a blast.

We had 16 ft of table space. It wasn't nearly enough, yet it was more than we could possibly manage. About 5 feet of Bark River, 2 feet of Scagel and Northwoods kitchen and misc and the rest were Queen, GEC, Northwoods pocket knives.

Oh. and a couple Chris Reeve too.

Thanks for the pictures; they've given me a better idea of the size and scope of the event than others I've seen so far. (Of course I'd love More More MORE, but-- thanks for these. :D)

Direct sales at an enthusiasts' event can be a very different animal indeed, especially as compared to online sales or normal brick-and-mortar store traffic.

Have y'all put everything back where you can find it again, yet? ;)

I found this knife and fell in love.

I didn't buy it yet. I have the owner's name and am still chewing on it.

So... that's just a "camera card" in the picture? If not, it looks like we know someone who might be able to hook you up when the time comes. Heh.

Charlie, thanks for the play-by-play! I'm glad you had a good time. Need that tuna sandwich?

The etched blade keys were a very nice touch! Now, just imagine how good they'll look once you perfect your blade stamp.

I am such a social dummy, I forgot my camera! I hoped others would pick up the slack, but alas, it was not to be!

Oh, Charlie.

I would have to have seen what you chose to take pictures of (including, hopefully, your own table) in the midst of all the goings-on.

I should have worn a "Barlow" hat, or something!

I thought the fishing vest would give it away. ;)

Thanks, guys.

I am posting some knives in other threads, that came from the Show. I am sure you all will find them!

Ha! The Tuna sandwich was not allowed in the truck, ~P!!
The person it was intended for never showed anyway!

The Remington (Rem) Lobster was a gift from a Rem collector.
Last year I found him a Rem he didn't have and he was amazed! He gave me this one this year when he saw me trying to trim my tired thumbnail! It has a killer nailfile/manicure blade in it!
BTW, the Rem I found him last year was a Grapefruit knife!!
No Rem collection is complete without a grapefruit knife!!:D

The A.W.Wadsworth (German) Jack was a present from a guy I helped move some stuff - he insisted!

And the knife picks were made for me to give to blade Forumites who showed up at my table! Wish I could have given out more!! (Actually, I did!)

Wow, I have to admit being very much like a little kid when I read and hear about these knife shows-especially when our guys are here in them!
Sue and I are going to England a wee bit later this year - we were just on the verge of booking tickets-then everything hit the wall, but when we get back, my list is taking Sue and our kids to Aussie for a loooong weeknd, then I start saving towards either this knife show, or Blade-I don't even know if it the same show to be honest, but I will be sure to ask before so I can plan hopefully to meet a few people if they were to be gracious enough to say yes - it seems as though I would have to save twice as much-as I would need a leash and chain once the doors opened:o
One day I hope to get there-its such an important thing on my list!!!
Very interesting reading everyone who went, and Charlie...... my friend....... just how could you forget your camera!!!! ;)

Does anyone have a pic of Charlies Table?

Just great reading, it sets me off imagining being there - which seems a world away to me.
