OT- Best .45?

Ive been looking for a Webley&Fosberry for years with no luck. Too hard to come by, but I want one

I had a minty 8-shot .38 target model once. (It's in my dad's collection now.). I think it was about $1700 in 1986, back before Webleys really caught on as collectibles. I'd guess it would go for $6000-7000 today, if you could find one.

You are violent, violent people!!

...and I've arrived too late to really add anything to this thread.

Still:

I'm old school. I have quite a few Colt 1911s from various series and I love them dearly. Mind you, each has needed a little work to accurize it and smooth out the rough edges. But I love 'em! :D

That said, Morimotom and Lunde have encouraged me to move into the modern era. I've been experimenting with Glocks, Sigs, and HKs ... mostly in the 9mm class (cheaper to shoot), but I've also tried their .45s.

Sigs are outstanding pistols. You'd be happy with one of their .45s.

But I find I very much like the HK45 -- despite the very different feel from my Colts. I suggest you try it out, too.

EDIT: Webley's!! And I thought I was old school. That takes us back to the closing days of the British Empire.

Wow, you are the first I know to have one. How did it work? Did it go *bang* every time you pulled the trigger or was the unreliability why they didnt make many?

Dunno if anyone mentioned them yet but I have friends who have the Smith and Wesson M&P .45 as well as the Springer XD...those are both excellent guns too....affordable as well. I like the Springer between the two of them personally....budsgunshop.com has a great sellection at great prices.

Okay, I just got back from the store. After much research, and thought, and handling all of the different .45s I could get my hands on, I ended up getting a Sig 220. It just feels so much better to me than anything else that I tried. For some reason, the 1911s all felt clumsy in my hands, and I didn't like the triggers on any of the HKs I tried, and I already have a Glock. The Sig is a big winner for me. Now I just have to take it to the range and see how it shoots. I got the DA/SA version with the decocker, and Trijicon sights. Sweet!

Thanks for all of the advice, you guys!

I'll post some pics when I get the chance.

I know I have no significant meaning to ANYTHING or anyone on this board...but Im proud of you. You will love it.

IF it gives you problems, try new mags before you curse it. They make good ones in Italy now.

I keep good records. Exactly 1000 trouble free rounds down range. Not one single failure of any type.

OK..Not a 1911 .45, the only one I have now is a Charles Daley that was gave to me but it does shoot great. I had to show off a pair of my .22 colts..I try to find them NIB if possible..I also have a couple others that I love to shoot. Gotta love them old colts. All these pics have inspired me to go on the search for a .45 Kimber in the morning..I will post if I have any luck.

I think you'll really enjoy the SIG P220 moonwilson. It's hard and pretty much impossible to recommend someone a gun without them being able to shoot it. Everyone shoots differently, whats good for me may not necessarily be good for you and vice versa. I have three H&Ks that I really like but I really don't shoot them as well as the SIG P-series platform or the 1911 platform. That being said, the Sig P-series are usually more easy to shoot for a wide range of people than other brands. The ergo of the gun is pretty nice so odds are you should be able to shoot it well. My brother has a 220 and it shoots great with no problems to report. I have a 226 in 9mm, made in Germany, that I love.

Great score and here's some more gun pron!
