OT: Folders (again)

How big a knife are you looking for? I love my ZT300, it is beefy, solid lock, good grip with the textured titanium lock side and the textured G10 opposite side, plus it is an assisted knife. You can find them barely used for $200 - $240. Other than that, you can get a used small or large Sebenza for $250 - $275, for some reason though, I can't seem to keep them, I have bought and sold maybe ten of them.

randucci,
I'm so tempted to try this folder but am a lefty.
Do you think it wouldn't make so much difference with this one?
Both sides have textured scales an four way clip,but...hmm:confused:

If you ever want to look at these I can send them to you. You should really try the Presidio, at least to see the blade shape. To me it is that perfect drop point shape that we have talked about. I have seen guys send off their Presidios to have carbon or G-10 inlayed. I nearly bought one of those used.

I may take you up on the Presidio after Tyrkon. Do you know who does the aftermarket mods on these?

I don't recall. I'll hunt through my emails and see if I can find my communications with that guy.

Give the hype some time to die down, and he should open up orders again. But you'd better be ready to get one in when he does! :D

LMAO, I'm on the list for a spot on "The List" direct from him... Oughta see my 2 in about two, maybe 3... Lifetimes! LOL It's gonna be awhile. :grumpy::D:D

Think I can I get on the list to get a spot on the list for a spot on the list? :D

TonyG: thanks for the offer. I just might have to take you up on a couple of those if I don't come back with something today. ;)

What's with the Bradly Alias II. I heard they were like a lower priced Sabenza. Are they knock-offs? Are they good quality? Am I thinking about the wrong knife?

I have had a Spyderco Lil Temp but the linear lock just seems so thin.

I also had an Emerson CQC 7 Mini w/ wave at one time but only had it for a very short time so I do not remember much.

Let me be the first to say that the lock on the Lil Temp is a compression lock; and it may be one of the very strongest locks out there. Yes even if it is small. You'd have to crush that metal to have it close.

About a year ago a bought a Lil' Temp off the exchance from a certain Tony G :D:thumbup:

He needed a little cash for some fixed blades.......

Very impressive little blade the Lil' Temp. No lock failure yet. But I do trust the backlock on the Chinook or Manix over the compressionlocks.

Oh I remember.... you were the guy that beat me up for a week trying to be sure it was actually mint:p:thumbup:

That's good news. Now I just have to find it. ;)

Crafft,
how do you feel regarding the rather tiny pivot screws on the heavy duty backlock offerings from spyderco?
They may be well sturdy enough, but I think a bit meatier would just fit better to the overall appearance of this models.

...and Scott Cook too
Lochsa, eh? I ordered two standard ones, S30V blades with pocket clip for tip-up carry, in March of 2004, and received them on August 3, 2006. While waiting, I managed to snag two Damascus versions, both with solid 14 karat gold thumb lugs. My snapshots of them are here: http://lundestudio.com/scottcook.html

I would have suggested the Lochsa over the Sebenza, especially since I have been carrying one for a year, but Scott Cook is no longer taking orders, and they're hard to find. When Scott shipped mine, he told me that I could probably sell them for double of what I just paid ($490 each).

str has a mini dejavoo lum with a custom framelock in the for sale area-its a sweet looking piece-

the bradley alias 2 is a nice knife, but i would take a zdp mini cyclone over it-

I like my Bradley Alias 2 (prototype).

Have not owned a CR Sebe, but they seem to compare very closely.....

Have been thinking about gettting the larger model as well...

Also carry an AFCK (old school liner) and love it.

Mini-Grip is another on the "A" list.

Sebenza for me...

I scored a large regular in great shape for 250 on the exchange a year or 2 ago and have been very happy!

The lock is rock solid.

Tyrkon, I have a TOPS 711 Magnum I'd be happy to send to you to try out. I was going to sell it but for the price it's listed at I'd rather beat on it and/or pass it around.

It's a BIG folder, but heavy duty too. Drop me a note if you're interested.
