OT: GUNS

Very true but you probably get 5 times the shooting pleasure from the EDC X9.

depends i guess, i never really was a huge fan of 1911s other than MURICAAAAA. cant deny the trigger is way better than a glock will ever be though.

Price out a custom Glock and I promise you it runs very similar in price.

Its close, ive done custom glocks myself but its still hard to come close to $2800+ for just one.

These are the last 2 glocks i bought and combined they still dont hit the price of the edcx9

But ya know you could make a similar comment over buying Busse vs other blades. I could get several ZTs for the price of one Busse, but we prefer the finer things. For me it is more than I’m just sick of plastic guns

Do you prefer the Glock 19x over the standard Glock 19 ?

depends on what im doing.

Regular day out and about concealed carrying appendix style, glock 19 wins every time. Ive carried the 19x "roland special" a few times and its a heavy pig. if its training day i really like the 19x with the trijicon rmr for shooting past 25 yards.

very true, for the price of one busse you could buy about 500 walmart folders. I never said the wilson was bad or wasnt worth it, only thing i said was the biggest drawback (for me at least) is that you could get 5 glocks or 1 glock and a whole lot of ammo for the same price. Was mostly a jab at wilson trying to reinvent the wheel with a 15rd double stack 9mm by completely re engineering a 1911.

Plastic is the future whether we like it or not. When you are lugging a sidearm 12 hours a day or more, weight starts to matter. I am still the 1911 fan, but I understand the need for the polymer guns and do not hate them the way I use to many years ago.

Oh trust me, I know all about carrying weight! A full combat load is no laughing matter

Which is one of the reasons I love it. Yes, it is heavy, yes it is a pita to disassemble in the field, yes, it does have low mag capacity these days. But what could be cooler than carrying the same gun that Sergeant York carried in WWI exactly 100 years ago. What could be cooler than that.? And yes, the gun is still in service today with some military and law enforcement. I cannot think of any other gun that has been in service with military or law enforcement for 100 years, can you? Sure today's guns are more efficient, more reliable in general and have higher capacity, but the 1911 is more than enough in the majority of scenarios even these days.

Same here, the 1911 is the ultimate in my book. Its the sidearm choice of Pike Bishop to boot :D

Granted, Ivenever carried monster backpacks on long treks, but i drag around an extra 50 lbs everywhere I go so to me it doesnt make sense to cut back any on knife and gun due to weight. Go ultralight on everything else, but full strength on the weapons.

Its tougher to carry a 1911 in a business suit than a ruger .380

Depends on where you live. I’m from TX so it doesn’t really stand out that much. Plus with the jacket, I would expect it to be easier

It's definitely harder to conceal a full-size gun in light summer wear, like shorts and a t-shirt - it's not impossible, but not super easy either.

I'm more thinking that dress pants/belts suck at holding up weight. I'm from Texas too. Almost got kicked out of HEB when my R9 brought the house down. Old lady behind me fainted and the checker accused me of stealing bananas

Go on....

Got my Kimber TLE ll to the range yesterday Done very well but not as accurate as I expected. Fired 100 rds or so. One failure to feed. Lip of casing hung coming out of mag. Thinking that and the accuracy were due to ammo. Took Federal alum case and some hollow point reloads. The Federal Alum case ammo is just as dirty as the old Blazer Alum ammo. Got to recheck with some good ammo.

On expensive guns like that I always run good brass ammo. It expands better in the chamber and tends to be more reliable. Never had much luck with any of the aluminum cased ammo.

Makes me cringe when I see someone go out and buy a $3500 KAC SR25 or some other high end AR and then run Wolf steel ammo through it.
