Young and stupid? Maybe so. Treasonous behaviour and betrayal go beyond protesting though. I was born in '71 so I didn't live through what she did, but it sounds bad. Also, if 17-21 year old soldiers were mature enough to know what they were doing, then she was too.
Don't forget that the apostle Paul was very successful at killing Christ's followers before he became a Christian himself: A murderer become a hero of the church.
Go figure. Was he forgiven? Probably. Did Christ's follower's forget? In his lifetime, I would say not likely. Though they accepted him as proof of God's power to set things right, and even as a minister to them.
Life is weird. Evil people can turn good, and good can turn to evil. As with Paul, evil people converted to good can often be powerful forces for doing good.
