OT: How is everyone doing?

Thanks guys!

I am getting some Teak for some repairs to a household full of antique carved Asian furniture and some Mahogany for a Mantle I'm building. I will probably pick up some odd pieces of burl or weird stuff they have for the projects I never get to for myself.;):D

I know what you mean about the projects. I've got a ton of interesting wood just gathering dust because of all of the other things I need to do during the week.

Do you think my wife will let me retire at age 38 so I can spend my days puttering around in my basement shop?;)

This is one of the reasons to marry a younger woman. My wife's going to be my Sugar Mama someday.:D

Things are going pretty good in my house as well. The wife and I are still gainfully employed, both with local government jobs, so hopefully we'll be safe a bit longer. In fact, my city is hiring a few people for my department, so that's a good sign for us. It is supposed to get near 60 today, so I think I'll take the dog out in the woods for a bit. I've got to work tomorrow, so the wifey and I will be doing valentine's day tonight. I'm glad to hear that everyone is keeping their heads up. Take care all. I also have recently acquired a new sharp to play with, a Kershaw Zing in orange, so life is pretty good for me, thanks for asking :D

CMD,

Did Phish finally smoke up all their money and need to get back on tour? ;)

That may be the impetus behind it, I'm not sure:p. They broke up in 2003 and have all been doing solo projects or stuff with other bands. Trey had a stint in jail/rehab for some illegal pharmaceuticals/DUI a year or so back. After that Trey realized how much he missed playing with the guys and after a mini reunion (3 of 4 members) at Rothbury festival last summer they decided to get back together. They're touring all summer, and playing Bonnaroo, and hopefully Rothbury. Glad to see one of my favorite bands getting back together though.

Last night wife gave birth to our first child. I've been pretty busy with getting ready for the new baby boy, but it's been worth it. I'll catch up on my outdoors activities pretty soon. My job is going well, wife just left hers to have the baby, but things are looking fine financially. It's the greatest time in my life and it just keeps getting better.

Blessed that I was able to find a new job so quickly in this tumultuous economy, still working with bugs!

Also excited about the condor thing, they got the signatures from me this week and are starting the new samples.

Frisky cause I'm on my way to go backpacking with the fiancee for V day.

and tired because I don't sleep.

Here is to hoping everyone else is doing well too. I raise my coffee glass to ya'll!

You know i use to post in WSS all the time, but in i got sick:(. and now after a ton of chemo and a pile of radiation, im doing well! Infact today is my last radiation treatment, and then im done for good...YIPPY. Now i can get back to practicing my survival skills and get back to camping and what i love...the outdoors!

So im not just doing good, today im doing GREAT!

I am extremely sick and waiting on diagnosis from my biopsies.
But, I am thankful to be above ground. I am going hardwood shopping with family tomorrow at my favorite mill then we're all going to one of our favorite day trip destinations with the kids and do as much hiking as my health permits.
Fort Worden

I hope all is well with others, now off to work I go.

Best wishes to both of you. I watched my Dad go through everything and it still chokes me up to this day and I'm glad that you guys are doing OK.

Not much wilderness / survival stuff going on right now for me, besides getting new knives to try out and playing with some new ideas for tarp shelters.

I've been getting to go skateboarding outside lately and I'm happier than I've been in months because of that. Winter kind of makes me forget how happy I feel when I'm out with the wind and sun in my face, cruising on my board doing my favorite tricks. Quite thankful my body endures the crap I put it through.

Not a good era at the moment, glaucoma seems to be making my eyesight worse, conflicts at work and personal life very shaky too.

I know these things will happen, but just now I'm not in very good spirits.

However, a Bushcraft Puukko from Muskratman is on its way so let's try and perk up and get out! (even if it is -10c...aaarrgh!)

worked three days so far this month. January was not much better. Boss still owes me $900 that i have'nt seen yet.

living off the $150 i made from snapping pictures for the newspaper.

But i got a new SY SOD that i traded for that i am real happy with1

Doing well enough right now. Great weather last week and early this week, was out fishing open water in a t-shirt on Tuesday. It's snowing like crazy right now, about four inches on the ground and still coming down. Only about 25F, so it's pretty wet heavy snow. Should have a knife from Bryan Breeden coming in pretty soon. Lots of schoolwork to do this weekend, homework and tests to study for. Hopefully I'll get out to play in the snow tomorrow morning, we will see. Despite lots of smaller things going haywire on me, life is good overall and I'm blessed in many ways.

I start class for my new position at work on Tuesday. Going to be in class for the next 6-8 months, but I am not complaining.

I just picked up the new Gossman PSN for a passaround, and I cannot wait to get home to try it out.

My family is healthy and, while times are not as plentiful as all of us would like, we have each other and are doing well.

My friends are healthy, and while times are not as plentiful as all of us would like, we have each other and are doing well.

I'm going to spend time tomorrow night with a good woman, and hopefully get a good dinner and movie.

Doing good, not wealthy, but healthy. We found out recently that my wife is cancer free after a bit of a scare. Tomorrow my two younger daughters are both bridesmaids in the same wedding, so I will be spending Valentines Day with the three prettiest girls I know, my wife and two grandaughters!

Here is to hoping that everyone is having a good day, good week, good life. Here is to further hoping that you are going out in the wilderness this weekend.

Cheers to everyone on WSS - post up with how you are doing - good or bad.

TF

Thanks for the well wishes.. hope you and yours are well. Warm weather rolled into Ga for at least the week. After the couple threads about fatwood (Pine Lighter) I'm heading out this sunday to harvest a log of it and make some prep materials. So I will definitely be enjoying nature this weekend.
