The real question is...Did God Create anger?
Sorry guys, I really don't have time to read all of this.
The solution has already been presented by others, in part.
God created us in his image. Anger at and hatred of sin is a characteristic of God. It is part of who he IS. Anger, like other things, can be corrupted, misused, etc. God is pleased to permit that, but does not cause it. Evil is not a created thing. It is a corruption of good things created by God. God created good creatures, some of whom corrupted themselves. I guess one way to say it is that nothing exists that is not derived from what God originally created.
So, if you say eveil is a "thing". then God did not directly create "that". I would say he foresaw it, even ordained it, but ordained in such a way as to have the creatures fully responsible.
How could he do that? If we really try to understand the concept of an infinite and eternal being, we might realize that there will be limits to our understanding. What kind of god would be one that i could fully , or nearly, comprehend?
"my ways are not your ways..."
Having said all this, I also want to say that all the supposed intellectual arguments against believing God are ,ultimately speaking, side issues. If I believe the Bible to be the word of God, then I must acknowledge the truth of what Jesus said in John 3:19 " This is the verdict. Men love the darkness rather than the light because their deeds are evil..." We all want to hide from the righteousness of God's just judgement. See Adam at the beginning for an example.
The original temptation still shows it's foul, ugly head. "you shall be as gods..." We all think we have the final say on what is right and wrong, on what is truth. We sit back, evaluating, judging, thinking our own thoughts, as if they were determinative. We have such a terrible time bowing the knee.
"Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little."
My words are of little value, if any. I have found encouragement, and much benefit from many of you here. If I cause anyone to pause, to rethink, to reconsider, to be convicted, or hopefully to be encouraged, that is more than i can expect, and certainly more than i deserve.
truth is absolute, and has very hard edges. Not all is black and white, but the white is there, shining gloriously, veiled for the most part, untroubled, certain of triumph, and of the glory soon to be revealed.
take care,
Tom
