OT: Save the price?

Looks like since this thread was started only about 10% of sellers are leaving the price up. I'll leave mine up from now on.

As a noob piglet as recently as a few months ago, I found listings where the prices were left up to be very helpful. Thankfully I pretty much knew off the bat that the prices on E-bay were suspect. Google did help me find other sources for original prices on some stuff in ganza threads, etc..., but that only helps to a point.

I also wish the Busse specs and pricing sticky was kept up to date.

I've been thinking about that...
If y'all can dig up models & pricing that aren't on that list, I'll add them to the sticky thread.
I need...model versions, year, price, handle upgrade prices,
And any other info y'all would like to see. Might be good to use one new thread for posting these to avoid thread clutter on the page. :)

It literally means next to nothing, as the only thing that matters is what the buyer is willing to pay for it and what the seller is willing to let it go for. Sellers should feel free to start as high as they feel could be possible, then slowly lower the price according to how fast they need to sell.

Yes, this is called a Free Market-this This is how this country runs-well said-if an individual does not know how much the knife is worth, or what he should ask, he should not be selling it!!

But when someone, maybe like yourself ;), buys a knife from a member one week, only to turn around and list it for sale a week or two later at some price well beyond what you might have paid, it'd be nice for some of these newcomers to know what you might have just paid for said item so they don't get taken. I know of one guy in particular who felt rather dirty when he discovered that had just happened to him. :grumpy: That's NOT community! :thumbdn:

IMO, deleting sold prices (or entire sales threads for that matter...) only serves to protect the flippers in our midst who use these forums to PREY on the knife fanatics. It doesn't just happen with Busse either. I'm sure we all remember one flipper in particular that really used to stink up the Busse B/S/T forum. He eventually got banned, but a few others floated to the surface in his absence.

IMO, one good side-effect of operation "2 weeks" is that said flippers are now having a MUCH harder time moving their wares with all the new steel floating around. Another one is that some of the crazy prices on rarer blades are starting to come back into reality.

Of course it's the free market, no one ever suggested that it wasn't. But a free market works best with a free flow of information. Informed buyers and informed sellers can then reach a deal that both sides are satisfied with.

thanks for the links, I think I remember reading through most of those...

Most, if not all of those threads cited seem (at least to me) to beg the reply: "Hey! Everybody, let's agree to keep our prices posted!" or "It really ticks me off when people don't leave their prices viewable...don't you agree with me?"

I intended for the drive of this thread to be..."let's DISCUSS the pros & cons of leaving / removing prices...NOT CAMPAIGN either for / against"

Sorry, if any hogs' or mods' sensibilities were offended or bored by "whipping a dead horse"-- not my intent

Likewise sorry if this thread blew the covers of any professional guerrilla flippers--
