HOGS---I 'd like to get a small .22 Semi-Auto pistol. Any suggestions, please?

Ruger Mark3 first and foremost, Browning Buck Mark, and Sig Mosquito.:D

I've got a Ruger MkIII slabside, definitely not small or light, but it's a reliable tack-driver. Maybe try one of their shorter barrel offerings.

I also have a Firestorm 22, which looks like a Walther or Bersa 380. The barrel is crummy and accuracy is not good. I could see the defect in the barrel when I got it and returned it for them to replace (50 dollars round trip) and the new barrel has almost the same defect. So it's not really recommended.

At the range it would be accurate at, you're probably better throwing a big rock.

I wanted that same gun, its very nice. But I held one at a gun show and I agree, it was a bit heavy, but nice none the less.

I have a Ruger Mark II and a P22. Since small is a criterion, I would go with the P22. Even in the shorter barrell versions, I could not categorize the Ruger as small.

Check out the Beretta model 21, it gets lost in your pocket. Taurus makes a nice copy, a little heavier.

The Ruger Mark III gets my vote. The more you shoot it, the better it gets......

I also have a P22 walther, laser sight, with the fake compensator. It is a great little gun, but if you get one, DONT get the fake compensator. The screws that attach it to the barrel on mine get hammered forward by the action, and after a hundred rounds or so the compensator gets loose. Mine has had thousands of rounds through it and other then that there has never been a problem with it. Wather just came out with a new target .22 that looks pretty cool as well. You cant go wrong with a Ruger .22 either, like the one above .

Depends on how small you want it? The Berretta 21 I have is a good gun, but not accurate enough to plink with. The Walter P22 will be a little larger and a little more accurate. I would go with a full size if you want good accuracy.

I've had all the good full sized .22's, and nothing comes close to the SW41.

I've got a 5" lightweight, 5.5" Heavy, and a couple of the 7" barrels for my two frames. You can't find the lightweight 5" anymore, and the 5.5" may be to large for what your looking for.

edit-The Ruger is a great .22... for the price, and I've had many. They will shoot forever before jamming and are very accurate. They are a real pain in the ass to break down, and almost crude like compared to the smoothness of a 41. But when the bull barrel versions are scoped and benched with a trigger job it will shoot right with the 41.

If you get a chance to shoot one(a 41) don't do it unless your prepared to buy one..kinda like a Busse in that regard.

Agreed, but he said small, the Mark III is anything but small.

But, if I could only have one, it would be my tack driving Mark III !

it now has a permanent home in my bag, it replaced a Beretta Model 70 that had been in there since the 80's. The 70 is a nice piece, just impossible to find anymore, the Mossad bought em all up.

I just got this little Badboy. The SigArms Mosquito. I do have a real suppressor for it and this is a perfect back yard target pistol.

Wow! Thanks All. Time to do some research. Thanks for all the help. I'll post back on which pistol I decide on.

Google Tactical Solutions. Someone above posted a picture of their Buck Mark with a Tac-Sol barrel.

They make aluminum barrels (with steel liner) for the Browning Buck Mark and aluminum barrel/receivers for the Ruger.

Find a used Ruger 22/45 for the lightweight grip-frame; then add the Tactical Solutions lightweight receiver in the length you want.

I'd love to put a TacSol upper on my 22/45. What's the typical retail out-the-door to your local FFL??? Any idea how much weight reduction does it give? Just b/c I'm curious.
