OT/Sml .22 Pistol

I'd love to put a TacSol upper on my 22/45. What's the typical retail out-the-door to your local FFL??? Any idea how much weight reduction does it give? Just b/c I'm curious.
I don't have a scale, but its a noticeable difference. With the 22/45 frame, its pretty light. Depending on what you want, I think close to $300 is about the going rate OTD. i.e. rails, flutes, threaded barrel, etc.

You can probably run up on one of those Beretta 21s at a gun shop. I had a Beretta .25 cal. that was very sweet for an auto derringer sort of weapon. You really can forget you have it in your pocket.

I like the Beretta, so far. My Dad has a Colt Woodsman with a 6" barrel.:) I'll give Dad a call. :D
Stay tuned and thanks for the help.

I have had a Ruger MKII 5 1/2" bull and also a Ruger 22/45 with same, both are great guns, but in my honest opinion the Walther P22 outshines them, albeit in my hands. It may be the trigger, or any number of things, but I can wear some s**t out with my Walther!!!:eek: Awesome gun for plinkin' and pests.:D:D

That SIG on this post looks cool though, might have to test one out.:o:o

I just got this little Badboy. The SigArms Mosquito. I do have a real suppressor for it and this is a perfect back yard target pistol.

An interesting alternative to the Mosquito is the regular 229 rimfire. I really like mine.

Thanks, Ken. Could you rec a pistol in that size range?
Rolf

Not in that size range. I don't know of a great .22 in that size range.

If you must go that small the Walther TTH is VERY small, and a great gun. I also like my Berretta 21, its very reliable and small, but not very accurate.

The most accurate of the lighter midsize .22's I have owned or shot are the discontinued Sig/Hamerelli Trailside(can still be found at good price) and the Walther P22.
One of the short barreled Rugers with a polymer frame will be the most accurate and reliable, and still be pretty light. Not sure if thats a little to big for you, but they are great guns for the price.
A short barreled polymer Browning(buckmaster) is also a great mid sized .22, but not as accurate or dependable as the Ruger though.

The P22 is the bottom one with the silver slide......For around $350, it is a pretty sweet pistol

I finally gave up trying to find a small .22 auto. I just couldn’t find the right combination of size, capacity, reliability and cost. So I threw in the towel
and bought this Taurus 941 Ultra Lite. It’s a 22 Magnum, holds 8 shots and has adjustable sights. It weights only 18.5 oz’s and shoots like a dream. The double action pull is heavy and needs some tuning; otherwise it’s an awesome little revolver. They do make a .22lr version and well as Stainless steel. Best of all it can be had for around $350. They are worth a look.

I like this thread.

Just rounded up some and took a quick pic for size perspective, sorry for the crappy shots:rolleyes:

I put in the 1911 for size reference.

10:00 Ruger Mark III, 2:00 Colt 1911, 4:00 Beretta Model 70, 8:00 Llama '.22CAL' center Beretta Model 21 & and a WHC for Busse content :D

The little Llama is a real miniature 1911, complete with grip safety . Also came in .380, the Beretta 70 also was available in .380.

I played with a friend's Walther P22, really sweet, been thinking about one.

Another vote for Ruger semi. They are bulletproof. I have put probably 40,000 rounds though mine if not more. I have been shooting it for about 16+ years or so. Mine is a MarkI, which was used when I bought it. My dad's Mark II is great, and my brother loves his mark III government model.

The synthetic framed ones feel much lighter in the hand. My only problem with them is that with my meaty hands, when I go to eject the clip, the heel of my hand keeps it from dropping free unless I shift my grip.

I love my Ruger MkII standard w/ 4-1/2" tapered barrel but it takes some practice to tame the muzzle flip. It's barely broken in with 1000+ rounds through her. I plan to pick up a 5" with a bull barrel if money ever gets right again. That's right after I get my .44 mag and get my Commander tuned and...

They're not made anymore but the S&W 2213 or 2214 would be worth a look.

Good luck

My aunt has one and really likes it

The tip up barrel gives her confidence she really did unload it.

I like my 21 for the same reason. I taught my kids to shoot with a Beretta 950 Jetfire (.25) tip up barrel, one round in the weapon at a time.
