OT/SS.22 Rifle?

That's a mean rifle, randucci. I forgot to thank you for the pic!

Now that you have the Ruger, make life easy and spend an extra $20-$30 and get the last shot bolt hold open release and a better mag release, the rest of the mods will come as needed. These two things will make any old 10/22 the bee's knees until you go Ultimate:thumbup:

No, you have to add them: http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=13870/Product/RUGER_reg__10_22_reg__BOLT_RELEASE

Now I may have mislead on the last shot hold open part but for the cost it makes bolt release convenient compared to the stock part.

There are several mag release options but I went simple with this one: http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=13874/Product/RUGER_reg__10_22_reg__EXTENDED_MAGAZINE_RELEASE

I picked up the plain stainless & cheapo black stock version years ago and this is all I have done and it shoots fine. I haven't shot it for a while because it's way too light for me. My wife even hates it unless you have a good bag or rest/branch, etc. under it...too much freehand muzzle waver:( When I get the urge I'm going to toss on a heavier barrel and revisit it again.

nice rifle... I like that configuration. you put it together yourself from parts, or did you buy it more or less like that? where you you prefer to buy your 10/22 guns/parts/accessories?

I purchased the basic model (wood stock and tapered steel barrel) on sale for $159 and added the bull barrel, stock, a few interior goodies and the red dot scope (I wasn't looking for a long range shooter). I had a bunch of gift certificates from Cabela's, so that is where I got the parts, I'm sure there are many other good places.
:D

Here is the Ruger 10/22 I put together, not stainless, it has an aluminum bull barrel (threaded for a can), aluminum receiver and a Boyds stock, super light weight. You can buy tons of after market accessories for the 10/22.

Beautiful AK's and .22.

Some third party companies make a .17 hm2 conversion kit for the Ruger 10/22. One in particular is the E. Arthur Brown Company, (URL would be EABCO dot com / hornady17hm2 dot html)

With the new Ruger 10/22 variants available, what doesn't the 10/22 come in?:)

My dad has a 10/22 which I shot years ago. It seems to be the benchmark for all other semi auto .22s. I recently got a Savage .17 hmr that I really like shooting. I think something similar is available for .22 cal also. However, if I were to buy a .22 (which I hopefully will in the not too distant future) it would most likely be a Ruger 10/22. To me, semi auto is the way to go for a .22 cal.

E.R. Shaw makes one, works pretty well so far. Barrel took awhile to break in accuracy wise.

Forget to mention the GSG-5. Did you know it's German made :D;)

And why do you want stainless? Never owned a stainless - never needed it. You moving to the beach house?

Thanks guys.
Bruce--- I'll check out the GSG-5, thanks... jah!
I just like the Stainless; less worries, like my Mission MPT... NO rust, eva.

WOT  and give up a chance to snort some more CLP? :D

10/22 carbine is a very nice size for both adults and kids, I got one with for my daughter. Should be under $225 @ Wallworld. add $30 for a cheap scope & rings and you have a pretty accurate little rifle. Don't know if it comes in stainless; the way it disassembles it is easy to clean or refinish; you may not need stainless.

The 'blue' model rugers, at least the last time I had one, a 22/45, had my fingerprints permanently etched into the barrel from the first time I touched it. I am rather good about wiping down my guns etc. but this happened in very little time. I will no longer purchase a ruger unless it is stainless steel.
