OT: Whats your favorite SHTF Handgun and why?

Based on common ammo + capacity, I'd have to take my 5906. Should probably own a Glock by now, but I don't.

Think I'd grab the Boom Parang to come along. Just handles so well for me and feel it's versatile enough to fill a lot of roles.
Here's a good deal on a G22.4 LEO Trade in for $290. When all the 9mm ammo was gone when this whole thing went down, .40 was still available down here in SoFlo.

I have handguns in .22 (for the little guy), .32 (it's so small and light that I never have an excuse to not be carrying), .40, and a handful of 9mms (EDC, range toys, and backups). My G19.4 is the one I would grab if I couldn't grab anything else although my P365 is always with me. My G17.5 MOS would be hard to leave behind though. Is that cheating?

I am expecting some Hi powers and CZ75's to pop up as well...

...teaser....matching talon holes ;)

Pistol: glock 26. It has complete GLOCK magazine size compatability

BUSSE: my original run steelheart ergo. Its not the ORIGINAL logo blade for nothing.

If I get a rifle:

A Browning HP would probably be my 2nd choice, only recently surpassed by a Sig P229. A Basic 11 would likely be a 1st choice for a knife, but a SHBM would be ok too.

Kimber Sapphire Ultra II 9mm, because I like 1911s, I've never had a FTF or FTE with any ammo I've used in it, the accuracy is spot on, and it feels really good in my hand. Plus it's super pretty. :)
Ruger SR556 - Because IMO, it's one of the best SHTF tools ever made.
Mega Ratweiler - because it's a good all purpose knife.

I'm taking my Beretta 92fs. Lots of US govt military mags and ammo floating around out there in the world. For the knife, probably my Bushwacker.

Very few scenarios would have me bugging out in my current environment. I do keep a road kit always ready that gets tossed in the truck for road trips or times of concern.

We’re on our second night with no power due to a bad storm and tornado that rolled above our house and touched down about a mile past us last night, so I can’t stage it with a Busse. To answer the knife side though it would likely be an ASHBM

Two “pistol” setup, Sig MPX Diamondback on top layer with an HK VP9 on the bottom layer. Plenty of mags and ammo.

Awesome a CZ guy. I really like them too and will go with my CZ-85 combat with Azula holster. I plan on fortifying the house in the event of civil unrest and martial law this summer. I have lots of .22 ammo and a few rifles in that caliber But if I had to leave, I will take my CZ and my Ruger .270 hunting rifle. I am taking my TGULB and I just received a Winkler belt knife. I want to make that part of my kit as well. My RMJ Shrike is awesome too. I have to have it on my pack. My sister gets the Busse Ak-47 and my infimandu. I am going to give it to her this weekend along with a Glock 19 and some other gear. I don't really have any other family nearby so it will be just us and the neighbors are friendly.

Great thread, Cobalt, thanks. Sort of a fun diversion from the current focus, but at the same time a reminder to think ahead. Well played sir, well played.

The only hi-cap pistol here is an old Glock G21, ya gotta dance with the one ya brung. Need to upgrade to a 9mm. The wife and kiddo can carry an old High Std 22 pistol and a Henry 22. Maybe the SW 65, but that complicates the ammo loadout. The old Charter Arms AR-7 is not reliable enough.

Basic 8 LE for light weight functionality. OG Ruck in a baldric rig. Small blades or folders to go around.

Still shopping for my first MSR. (I know, I know...) Tending to a SA Saint Victor 5.56. If I can find one.

Have to say, I am in awe of the folk who have a loaded bag always ready to go.

Is it crazy to consider an FN FiveseveN? Big capacity, light weight, negligible recoil, and no worries about hollow points getting clogged with denim. Not going to scavenge much ammo, but would probably find a 9mm or .40 before I ran out.

And if the FiveseveN is crazy, a Sig Sauer P226 because that's what I shoot most and it always works.

And a SHBM. Because it's a SHBM, and nothing else is a SHBM.

G21 is a great one. I still have my original from 1992 and have a gen 4 as well. I actually think that the G21 is so soft shooting that it is more accurate than my G23 and G22's.

I haven't seen any revolvers mentioned, so I'm going to throw out a Ruger 8-shot Redhawk in .357. Can shoot candy-man light .38s or really hot (Buffalo Bore) .357 loads. Can beat the hell out of something with it too if you run out of ammo. And, frankly, if I'm in a firefight that lasts more than 8 rounds, I'm probably not going to make it anyway. It's cut for moon clips too.

Knife would be ASH - 1.

Rifle is Scar 17s (.308). Maybe a little heavy and loud, but I'm probably not going to hump too far anyway.
