Got it.

The ball is now rolling guys. Sorry for the wait, but I think it'll be worth it. :)

I want to mention too, please don't feel the need to really baby the knife. It's not a safe queen, and I use it like I would any other knife. All I ask is that you don't intentionally abuse it. By that I mean no cinder block chopping or shooting it! :D Please put it through it's paces though. I want everyone to get a feel for what this knife can do well, and can't do well. If it needs sharpening, and you feel competant enough to do it, go right ahead. No problem by me, but I do ask that you don't change the bevel angles. I'd like to keep it factory so to speak, so everyone can see how they come from Rick.

I plan on thinning the edge down some when I get it back, just because of personal preferance and I'd like to make it a better slicer, but I'd like to keep it the same as it is for the passaround.

Other than that, take it apart, clean it up, strop it, whatever you want. I trust your judgement....... (I think.. ;) )

Damn! What's left then? :p

Alright guys... The XM-18 landed today. I haven't had a chance to use it yet but first impressions are...:eek::eek:

:thumbup::thumbup:

This baby feels extremely comfortable in the hand. Awesome deployment with the flipper that also doubles as a guard. That is one of the best parts for me. I have always shied from knives, especially folders, with shallow or no guards. The guard on this baby insures a much higher level of security IMO. It is one solid feeling knife as well. And a beefy frame lock (my favorite) so that is a plus with me. And the blade shape and thickness are sweet. I really want to go into this more but want to wait for some decent light this weekend and time test this beast out.

I just wanted you guys to know thst "the game is afoot"! ;)

Lots of pics and reviews to follow this weekend. :D

Sweet! Glad it arrived safely, now go give her a work out!

MD13,
I Have been out of pocket for a while with some family affairs to attend to. Is it too late to sign up for the pass around? If its not please let me know and I will send my info immediately. Thanks a bunch. Been a big fan of Ricks for a while, I would love to fondle the XM for a day or two:D:D:D

Alright guys. The XM-18 is on its way to XAMAN. My time, sadly, is up. I had a little accident over the weekend that required me to get 16 stitches, but that is another story. ;)

Anyway, I will put up my review tonight. All I can say for now is that this is now my #1 sought after folder. Just perfect IMHO.

Thanks again MD13. I hope I can reciprocate one day. :)

okay, i'm on the lookout for it --- can't wait for the review too.

16 stitches just sounds like a painful experience! I'll have to be very careful with this folder, it sounds dangerous!

Don't worry about the XM. It is about as safe as it gets, folder wise, IMHO. Unless you want it to be bad. ;) (muahahahhahahaha).

Guyon, info recieved!

XM-18 mini Review:

It was sad to see the XM leave but was a really sweet opportunity for me to get to handle this sought after knife to decide if it lives up to its hype. I can't seem to find my camera so unfortunately this review will lack visuals.

Handle: I have to say that this is one of the most comfortable knives I have ever held. The ergonomics are superb IMHO. Fit my hand like a glove. Both standard and reverse grips were secure and comfortable. And the texture is just right.

Blade: I really like the blade shape on this knife. It sliced very well. You could thin the edge out to improve slicing but I feel it sliced just fine for my needs and thus would keep the extra edge thickness for strength. It also punctures well into various mediums. (No I did not use car hoods or cinder blocks ;) ).

Flipper: I love this feature for two reasons. First, and most obvious, it allows for a very quick, one handed opening using your index finger and a little flick of the wrist. But more importantly to me the flipper serves as a guard adding further security in preventing your hand slipping forward onto the blade or from the blade closing on you. I do not think that is possible with this feature.

Lock: One solid frame lock. Made me feel real secure.

Summary: While I am primarily a fixed blade guy ( BUSSE COMBAT RULES!!!) I have handled my fair share of folders and have trained in and trained others in the use of edged weapons for approx. 15 years. The XM-18 feels like a fixed blade to me. No blade play. Solid lock up. Secure guard. Easy deployment. This is just one solid chunk of metal. Despite its "built like a tank" qualities I feel it is very light and fast. I didn't even notice in my pocket after a while.

So in conclusion, I am hunting me down one of these bad boys. I want to thank MD13 again for giving us all the opportunity to handle a blade that we may not have otherwise had the chance to handle.

MD13: YOU ROCK BRO. :)

No problem Bro! Glad I could share mine with others. Until Jerry puts out INFI folder (Hint, SUPER-HINT), I think this is pretty close second. Thanks for the review. I can't wait to hear from others.

(No I did not use car hoods or cinder blocks ).

We may be able to send this back to you by the the end of the passaround.... :D

MD13... Info sent as requested here. Thanks again! :D:thumbup:

I have had the XM-18 Hinderer for about a week, and have been carrying it, and using it for daily cutting tasks. I am about to go to a dentist appointment, and will post my mini review later today.

But, I managed to take a few snapshots of it this morning, and wante to share those now, because they're ready:
