Looks like I got skrewed by ''otto''. I bought a Highland Special from him on 07/24/2009 and never heard from him since. His last activity here was on 07/30/2009, I think 6 days is more than enough time to ship a knife. There is also two other bf members that got in the same boat.
Hope I can get my money back from paypal :confused:

I paid Otto for an Alsdorf Custom MOP Interframe on 07/29 and haven’t heard from him since.

Does anyone have any detailed information on Otto so we can try to contact him directly? Maybe we can contact his local Police Department and all the usual contacts in an effort to resolve this.

I’ll try contacting some of the Knife Makers on the Forum and see if I can get Ottos contact information since they mailed him knives he purchased.

Yes we sent many emails and pm's. He would not communicate at all right after I sent the payment. I personally started sending emails on the 27th with no response but he managed to communicate with other members to sale another knife after that. I know he has a good feedback and all but why wouldn't he reply any of our emails. It's been 2 1/2 weeks now.
 
Otto has not responded to my PMs, Emails, Visitor Messages or PayPal Claim.

I paid for the knife on the 29th. At that point he had 2 other members money from 1 and 2 weeks earlier and he has failed to deliver those knives. But he continued to offer items For Sale.

If this is a mistake or miss-understanding I will happily be the first to apologize.

Hopefully all is A-ok with this mans well being. Hard to believe a man would risk a good rep over some sharp steel.

Otto, fellow appreciator of the STEEL , come out come out where ever you are!

I'm number three, I sent payment via PayPal on July 23rd and was emailed at 6pm July 23rd that the knife would ship the next morning. I have emailed Otto 8 times, have attempted to contact him via pm's here, and have filed a claim with PayPal, and haven't recieved anything back from Otto. I looked at his feedback prior to buying the knife, which is why I gave him 2 solid weeks before filing the PayPal claim. Regardless of his issues, he has visited the site since and has not contacted any of the 3 people who have purchased knives. I've never had a problem buying through the forum before and at this point all I really want is my money back.
 
In the past,user names were "logged on",only to find out later,it was not the actual person,but someone in the household ,using the access to BF's

I hope it works out for you guys,I hope Otto makes good on this.

I wouldn't write Otto off so soon. I did a couple of deals with in the past with no problems. Very recently (about 3 weeks ago) I contacted Otto in regard to an Alsdorf Jack that he had offered to someone in the wanted section. He replied that the knife had been traded, but then offered an Alsdorf Doctor to me. I passed. I think if Otto was trying to scam someone he would have offered me the Alsdorf Jack I inquired had about:confused:

I'm sure there's an explanation
 
I think you are all jumping the gun trashing somebody rep and it is only 2 wks? You need to be more patient.I could turn out to be a bad deal but it is to soon to tell.
 
There aren't very many acceptable reasons for a total lack of communication. I don't think the time that has passed is the problem.
 
I'm curious, how long should I completely ignore the fact that I payed for the knife, along with the additional money to cover the PayPal fees, had it charged to my account, and have not received any emails or pm's, let alone the knife? I'm not trashing anyone, I'm stating what happened. The first 2 emails I sent after 4 and 6 days asked if the knife had been shipped, no reply. The next 3 emails asked if everything was ok, and to please let me know if there was a problem, no worries, just would like an update. The next 2 emails voiced my concern about not hearing from him, to please understand my concerns, and that he was putting me in a difficult position. The final email stated that I was going to file a claim with PayPal, and I explained why. In the contact attempt via the PayPal claim I told him I had no problems, I just want my money back at this point. The pm's are posted and anyone can read them.

I hope that Otto is ok, but he has not responded to any of us. I contacted Doc, who was in contact with Braillediver, prior to any of this going public. Otto is trashing himself, he has been given more than enough time, more than enough opportunities to at least let someone know there's a problem, and has continued to do business and check in after he ripped off other forum members. I am patient, but I am not stupid.
 
Nobody is trashing anyone. After a week or so, worry is natural, especially with no communication. I just PMed him a heads up about this thread.

Let's not panic. He may be dealing with an emergency and will get back, if late, and restore his reputation.

I've been here for over a year now, I know I don't have many posts but I've been lurking around a lot and usualy find everything I need by reading and searching. I would'nt have started this thread so fast if ''otto'' would'nt have gone missing right after i sent payment and nobody else would've been worried about their deals with him. I mean I know he is a Gold Member and has good feedbacks and everything, it's just the fact that he was not answering my emails but he kept on doing other deals with other members and curiously those members were able to contact him. Ok maybe something happened to him or he had a emergency wich I sincerly hope not. If so, he will have my apologies and I will do everything I can for him to get his rep back, but as far as I know he still had his both hands fonctional 6 days after I sent payment and 3 days after my first email asking if the knife was shipped.
I know my vocabular may be poor (I'm french Canadien ;)) but I think this is pretty clear.
 
I just completed a deal with otto recently. It was very smooth. Your concern is certainly valid but I don't think he is out to screw anyone. Something must be up with him....hopefully this works out.

Otto is AWOL with 3 peoples Money- he has $200 of my money and no response for 2 weeks since payment.

The other 2 Members are 1 and 2 weeks further into this mess than I.

For me it’s been 2 weeks with No response to Emails, PM’s, Visitor Messages, the PayPal Claim and Esav Benyamins invitation to this thread.

I hope all is well with Otto also, but it shouldn't matter if a member is a Gold, Platinum or Plutonium member. A deal is a deal and all it takes is one email to assuage the concerns of anyone who is alarmed. The color and level of someones membership here is irrevelant.

I was simply pointing out that an established reputation is not normally tossed aside easily. I hope for the best. I have had packages delayed in the mail and had to sweat out the wait. I know it is uncomfortable.
 
Do any of you buyers have Otto's contact info? Specifically, his phone number. If so, have you made any attempts at calling him? If you don't have his phone number, do you have his mailing address? An address may lead to a phone number, via a quick White Pages search on the Internet.
