While you're there, you should buy that little blue Subaru on the left :D.

I loved the farm pictures, they remind me of my family's farm in northern Georgia, minus the lake (it is on the Savannah river though).

I hope this isn't a touchy subject, but what ever happened with the wine?

Thanks for your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed the farm pictures. I bet your family's farm was/is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. I'd love to see some pictures. You are welcome to post them here...:)

The wine and other personal goods are still at the transporter's warehouse in Helsinki. They are crated, -on pallets and ready to be shipped.

I'm waiting to get on the road and be personally at the port of entry when they arrive to US. They will be forwarded to AK from there...

So.... so far all is OK. I expect everything will go smooth when I tell them to ship....Will keep you posted...

Kind regards, -Spinner

If you don't mind me asking, I'm interested in more information.

Where did you move to Finland from?

Why did you move to Finland?

What did you think of life in Finland?

Why did you leave Finland?

Why are you moving to Alaska?

Thank you.

So did you get your Avalanche?

Good morning...

They will call as soon as the Avalanche is ready for me.

I think I'll drive it for a day and see how it feels in different situations and how much fuel it will drink. I'm a pretty conservative driver so it should be good for me...

I'll also look to see if they have something else suitable.

BTW, thanks for the Avalanche link.

Have a great day....:):D

Hi Mike,

First I have to tell you how very beautiful (fantastic) your photographs are.

I don't mind :) We moved to Finland from Alaska so we could be near my aging Mother and thus we could help her...

We lived on a farm and it was a good and pleasant life amongst chickens, turkeys, wild boar, meat cattle, milk cow and horses ... and of course the dogs and cats...

We raised much of our own food and both my husband and I hunted "larger" game for food...

A lot of available free time was spent on fishing, mushroom hunting and berry picking...:D

When my Mother passed away, we had no reason to continue living in Finland and we missed our home and friends in Alaska and US.

We kept our home in Alaska though we were in Finland, so that's why were going back...home....

Great pics, First time looking at this tread. Why are you moving to alaska? What did you do with all of your belongings, farm in finland?

I'm glad it looks like everything will work out.

"Live so that when your children think of fairness, caring and integrity, they think of you..."

Excellent. That does remind me of my parents. Hope I can do the same for my kid as they did for me. :)

Keep the pictures coming, you have a great eye.

Hi all. Sorry to have quit posting in this fine forum.

I love this forum and enjoyed the interaction with many of you. The move from Finland to Alaska was done and I took a lot of interesting pictures between the East Coast and Alaska. Visited Mammoth Caves and Yellowstone. Even took a so called interesting "nature photo of the year" in Yellowstone...lol.....

If any of you are interested on me reviving this thread and telling you about our drive (daughter and I) and the stuff on the way, I'll be glad to continue this thread.

Best wishes to you all, -Spinner :)

OK, we were in Pennsylvania. I 've put over 25.000 miles on it since last year about this time. Wonderful truck...:D

I'm going to tell you about the journey as it enfolded, so though it was last year, it will be told as in present time...

Brother and Sister in-laws home...a historic landmark.

Comes with it's resident ghost....

The following shots were taken from the car as we drove by.

Well, another day done and a new one dawning. I really look forward to seeing what this day has in store.

Sun is shining and it's crispy 30 degrees F.... Yesterday morning we had two to three inches of snow on the ground. It was beautiful but it melted rather quickly, exposing the green grass. This is so unusual for me to see. The area where we lived in Finland would be drabby gray till way into May...

Boy...It's a beautiful morning. I'm so glad to be able to see it and I look forward to the future with optimism... It's great to be alive.

I wish for you all to have a great day too...

Here are some pictures of beautiful buildings

NEWS FLASH....

I found a nice trailer but a couple days later when I was going to give the rest of the money to the seller, he didn't have the title at hand. He said I would not be able to get it for two weeks as it was at the DMV being transferred to his name.

To make a long story short, I told him I will not take a trailer without a clear tittle in my hand...

So...

Bill, the future "relative" whome I bought the Avalanche from has a special, close working relationship with a man who owns a large travel trailor/mobile home lot. He introduced me to the trailer man who sold me a 24foot, newer model trailer. This one is much nicer than the other, and much newer also.

It's nice to find such a positive outcome to a negative situation. Life is good ......:)
