Our friends need our smoke and prayers, see who need your good vibes here.

Just spoke with Jennifer Michael's (Codger_64's) daughter, here's the current update as of 4:00pm est.

He was doin much better this morning so they eased up on his sedation to allow him to breath more on his own. He's doin' 12% more of the work breathin' than he was yesterday. He's alert and acknowledged his family but after getting his blood gas work up back they upped his sedation a little to allow him to rest some more. He' getting nourishment and actually taking in more 'cause he was keepin it in.

He's a little swollen from all the fluids but they expect to go away with time. They expect him to be where he's at for a few more day while he gets stronger. His daughter Jennifer says thank you all for the thoughts, smoke and prayers they're helping and please keep her Dad Michael in your thoughts and prayers.

Next time I talk to her I'll find out if it's ok to send cards or something to his room, knowin' Michael probably not but we wouldn't listen anyway would we? ;) :)

Keep up the good vibes and I'll keep you updated.

^ Thank you for the updates! I hope that Codger's condition is improving, & that he's felling better today.

I think it would be an awesome gesture, for the BF family to network together & flood his hospital room with some "knife related" ;) get well cards. It would probably cheer up the otherwise, sterile hospital atmosphere.

Get well soon Codger. One of the main attractions of BF for me has been your encyclopedic knowledge and love of Schrade knives.

Anyone who would like to send Michael (Codger_64) a card or well wishes I don't think ICU is the place for it but if you would like his home address pm or email me and I'll send it to you. I think if he came home to a ton of cards it'd lift his spirits. Thanks for the continued prayers and smoke.

Michael's daughter posted an update.

They are further reducing his ventilator use, more slowly this time. A little bit of progress is all they are workin on at te moment.

Thanks Ron. Keepin' you and yours in my thoughts and prayers Michael get well my friend. Ron, Jennifer said it's ok to give his address to his friends here and the JD if they'd like to send cards. If you have his address you can give it by way of pm or email if you'd like or send them to me and I'll pass it on.

Codger's daughter Jennifer said:
...They're going to slowly wean him off the ventilator so it doesn't stress him or his lungs out. They lighten his sedation and the ventilator by the hour. He is not awake right now and may be this afternoon before he wakes up enough to follow commands. He is doing well they just want to take it slow to be on the safe side. ... Taking it slow is giving his lungs time to heal. ... Right now the ventilator is still breathing for him. However as they slowly turn it down, they hope he will initiate his own breath and not double peak like he was yesterday. When he was awake yesterday and initiating his own breaths he was trying to take in way too much air per minute. Its like he remembers his respiratory distress and he wakes up thinking he is still in that state so he's trying to catch his breath. With some coaching and some time, he will work through that... Baby steps for now.

Michael keepin' you and the family in my thoughts and prayers, get well soon my friend.
