Our "Front Porch" ....

N2K, that is actually sort of what I was thinking, but in slightly different terms. I have, shall we say, a short temper for when anything I own doesn't perform up to a certain standard or reliability. It's why I was originally drawn to Hinderer, it is an overarching factor in how I picked my light, my wallet, my jeans, boots, and almost anything else that I interact with on a regular basis. That being said, I'm not a huge fan of the experience of writing with a space pen cartridge. I universally sacrifice the preference I have for some other more enjoyable cartridges for the sheer reliability of fisher's, and so long as the investigator is comfortable enough to cross a normal threshold it'll forever be in my pocket (and if not there will be an ED there). Eventually I'll get around to getting something that I enjoy the writing experience of a bit more, but it would drive me crazy not having something of the utmost reliability with me. Also, I love the look of the copper investigator and I suspect with thick-ish O-rings it'll be perfectly good pen for almost every circumstance.

You are not alone in searching for what works best for you in all things....as many as practical, that is.

As for the pens...I could list what I do and don't like about every pen I've ever used, but experiencing them for yourself trumps opinions of others.

N2K you always have great gear and descerning taste. I value your input and strong opinions when it comes to flashlights, knives, pens, etc. You should seriously start a gear review blog or YouTube channel. Your knowledge and eye for detail could really help people out who are not in the know, or who are not part of this fine forum.

Thanks!

I'm a bit too humble to seek Internet fame but do like to assist others. I doubt I'd have the time to give that adventure the attention it would require. Cool idea though; because I often see so much on YT that's just a little wrong or misleading, that information is all some see...and that's too bad.

THE N2K CHANNEL!!!!! Sign me up!

Very complimentary.

But most likely all I'd do on there would be similar to the stuff I do on here...

Examples:

--show how to easily add o-rings to the pens.
--change standoffs without disassembly of the entire knife.
--using a corkscrew to remove a "stuck" filler tab.

Well...... for those who have Loved and Lost - I get it.

I knew I liked it ALOT but I can not find my HDS Rotary ANYWHERE:mad:

I am a routinized machine of repeated behavior when it comes to such things. In to the pocket - same way everytime.
Out of the pocket and into my drawer - same way everytime. Use it - back into the pocket - same place everytime.

This morning - No light. Have wasted my entire day walking around looking like a homeless alzheimers patient mumbling, cursing, looking places I didn't know existed (found my favorite lighter)
What a bummer this is.
Not the cost and for the most part - not even that I waited a year for the thing ..... it is the feeling that I am losing my mind.
Jeezus. If this is what getting old is about - I'm going for a long walk in the woods.

It's in your chair/seat/sofa/car. Look all the way thru to the floor area(s) as the light's heavy enough to land at the bottom.

Mine has slipped away many times...I most always find in/under the couch/chair.

If it's still missing after 72 hours I'll either come assist in location or start a pass-the-hat...you will have a HDS 200 Rotary.

Okay catch your breath Rubi, just try to re trace your steps to last time in said paws. I remember you demonstrating it to me at the Westin, did it get back to Rubiland from NJ safely?

When I lost my Pond Scum XM 18 this summer my dog Daniels was able to hide it in his bed and I did nothing to him to justify such action. Now as I recall Mason had some adjustment to dog manhood, and wore obligatory head cone/funnel, and endured posting of such event on the internet. Mason moves to top suspect if re tracing is not productive.

Good luck in the recovery, I know the feeling !

Thanks N2K/F.O. - I used it several times last night and remember each time and where I was, just can't remember the order. Gonna take a break (against my natural way) exhausted, been looking non stop since 0830.
Amazing how tiring looking is, concentration and the non stop walking inside/outside and up and down the stairs countless times. Sucks.
Anyway. Hope Everybody had a Happy/Safe Thanksgiving. Excitement can now build for "Hinderer Cyber-Monday" no parking or crowds to deal with :) Hope everybody's Refresh Buttons survive.

Keep us posted on the Rotary hunt.

If you quickly threw on a coat to battle the winter's chill last evening, perhaps the light is in the pocket.

Rubi when ever I lose stuff its always because I broke my routine...Yesterday Turkey day is the ultimate routine breaker....what did you do yesterday that was out of your routine? Like say looking for the Turkey baster etc..... hope this helps, and also I'm with F/O Mason needs some interrogating, it stands to reason you took something of his.........

Yes Coop... yesterday was everything about breaking routine not the least of which traveling/family/too much of everything and then home to the Bear. I am ALL about S.O.P. and yesterday was anything but. Older I get the more I rely on repetitive behavior.
I have my eye on Mason as F.O. indicated. I hope He knows (Mason, not F.O.) that I was not his antagonist, quite the opposite with regards to his "adjustment". I argued tooth and nail until my Wife finally figured her angle of attack.
She waited until one of his "unresolved moments" ....pointed to him and said, "How would you like it if you had to go through life like that, he's in pain". I had to admit she had a point. Short of getting Mason a girlfriend, life was going to be frustrating for the boy.
Tomorrow will be a renewed search effort, this time outside in the perimeter woods.
Wish me luck.

Take mason with you.....His nose may be your secrete weapon! OH and re-check the car seats!!! under the seat especially like N2K said.. Good luck!

Oh man Rubi, I feel your pain - I hate the frustration of "it's got to be around here somewhere"..

Good luck w/ the search and resolving the "adjustment" :)

Sorry to hear you lost your rotary Rubi. I actually lost my first nicer knife (a Sebenza) this spring for a day or two, so I know how traumatizing and frustrating it can be. It isn't super practical indoors for searching, but if you were outside anywhere where you could have lost it try retracing your steps with a bright light- if the light catches the bezel it'll reflect back and catch your eye. Another forum member suggested that tip to me, and it is actually how I found my Sebenza.

Rubi what is the status of missing HDS Rotary? I have a strong feeling that you just misplaced said item, the way you EDC your essentials minimizes lost. As far as Mason I know you were an advocate of retaining his jewels, I remember your wife's convincing argument to,the contrary with valid points.

I have a friend that lives and works his family dairy farm ( fourth generation) and he had a breed of dog that was a Red Bone Coon hound. Bill and his dog had just come in from the barn for breakfast in late winter and the dog was lying next to him enjoying the warmth of the sun's rays streaming through the window which belied the temperature outside. As the dog basked in the amplified heat streaming through his patio doors, the dog was grooming himself with extra attention to his ball sac. My friend looks at his dog with pride who obviously was enjoying the extra stimulation and says tongue-in-cheek to his wife, " I wish I could do that". His wife not missing a beat says to him, "maybe if you are really nice to him he'll let you".

I actually laughed out loud at that :)
