Out of reach folders

He gives discounts (in essence a discount, in reality the base price) to people who save lives or defend the country and you have a problem with that???

I love the look of Hinderers but I wouldn't want to buy one because I don't respect the makers philosophy on how he sells them.

Police and firefighters are civilians. I have a problem with people who seem to think that they're above regular people as to only sell them at a decent price to a select people who "serve". That's my opinion. It goes in with that whole militarization of the police currently. It brings to mind an "us vs them" mentality that a lot of LEOs have that they feel they're more equal that the rest of the population. Same thing with that inclusive mentality some people in the military have. Part of having a post like that is serving it in a stoic fashion, not try to bring attention to themselves with it.

I've always wanted a arlee niemi megladon folder. Fascinating design and one of the strongest knives made. It was and auto so I couldn't own one. There was some very preliminary discussion about making a non auto for the rest of of us. You can find glowing reviews and VERY few pics by searching this forum..

My current favorite..hasn't left my pocket since I got it

That is a sweet blade... I was checking out his sight hoping to get on his list. No go but seriously awesome blade.

How comfortable is it? It looks like it could go either way.

Hinderer XM Hellfire, with prices hitting $4000 these things are becoming an un-reality for me.

Strider SmF. So bad. Theoretically I could get one. Cant bring myself to spend that type of money on a blade I want to use all the time. Id have to sell my other beloved blades to get one. So I see it as just out of reach...can almost touch it...fingertips

You get some interesting results when those two collab.

The "EXA" was another one they did together and it looks wicked.

Oh man some easy grails for me that are out of reach basically because they have 3yr+ wait list theyre currently working on and secondary market is really steep/hard to find are
Eric Och flipping fox, Deverish knives alchemy/comanche, Southard flipping tanto, Rexford singularity/injection, Burch, and Nalu knives (hangloose from usn)although Im on his list still 3yr wait

Not a whole lot of folders. Strider SMF-T with coyote G10 and the tiger stripe blades are a bit ricey but they look oh so nice.

Could never justify the price when Benchmade Griptillian and even Cold Steel Recon 1.

(I think I'll consolidate my "wish folders" into one post)

The Shigorov/Sinkevitch designs; the Cannabis is pure sweetness all around!

And lastly, any serious knife knut with loads of disposable income lying around must have the Japanese Rockstead's in their collection. You can check out their testing videos on how their blades hold their edges. Besides a fixed blade, I like their Higo folder -

Anyone who considers a Rockstead a "production" knife has obviously NEVER handled one, when I bought my Shin it cost me $1500 in XY7R but it's every bit as beautiful today as the say I bought it, plus it has a really low serial number. My hinderer XM 24 is extremely nice but it's a real one meaning actually made by him not one of the new one that get pumped out so fast it makes your head spin, plus it's a Spanto in Cv-20c and I've had it 4 years. Also love my Frag handle clip, thought a Direware folder was out of reach, now I have a full titanium handled m390 recurve v5 solo. Also love my strider SMF, w/digi camo blade even better my XMF XL with recurve tiger stripe blade with polar grey scale which was unique to knife art.com some of my Allen Elishewitz pieces are beauties a 1 off Gordian Knot and a mini Jeckyl (run of 10) rarer than the full size) My Les George FM-1 titanium bolsters carbon fiber handle, my Cerberus 2 ,anything with 4.25 inch blade commands respect, and beautifully made by Les and Allen, last but not least my Brian Nadeue Typhoon in one off colors which is absolutely beautiful. But this is all just a small part of my $35,000 collection.

So, Mr. Master of Sharp Objects, for someone who has more money invested in knives than a lot of us do in our own vehicles, what would you consider "out of reach" as per the original posters question? Curious minds want to know. :D What is that one knife that you wish you could afford?

Would it be an original Loveless? a Michael Walker? Tim Herman? One of those bejeweled William Henrys?

Mine would be an Ed Fowler Pronghorn, or a custom Loveless-style from Bob Dozier. Some of David Mozier's stuff is just out of reach for me, and a Custom R. J. Martin might just be attainable, if I'm really committed.

A slightly smaller Zt 0560. The knife is fan-freakin'-tastic, just a hair too large for my tastes. My sights aren't set very high, but they are set somewhere I can reach without winning the lottery. Yes, I know the 566 is smaller, but I am not a fan of assists, and LOVE me some bearings.

Hah, my tastes haven't changed much. Over 3 years ago I loved golf ball dimpling, and I still love it. I would love a just over 3" 560, or something that is lefty friendly with that sweet dimpling on the scale and lock.

I let a kirby lambert slip from my grasp to help finance an engagement ring 6 years ago. Now I find myself perusing all the familiar sites, but cannot bring myself to drop a 1300-1800 bucks when I have so many other irons in the fire.
