Pacific Salt 2 Green LC200N

When you guys say “flimsy” do you mean the ease of squeezing the handle scales together? I saw a couple of reviews on YouTube where the reviewer said it was easier to flex the endura handles than the PS2
That is one way to test flex in the handles scales. The other way is to wiggle the blade as if looking for blade play, the idea being that without steel liners and/or thin/hollowed frn, you will get some wiggle and flex at the pivot. The Pacific Salt 2 lc200n exhibits both on my example. This is totally to be expected though! Absolutely to be expected and in no way an unintentional flaw.

Btw, whoever that youtuber is that said an endura will flex more than the PS2, unsubscribe immediately! I find near zero flex in my Enduras while the PS2 will almost touch when squeezed. The PS1 has less flex because the FRN isn't hollowed out.

2 questions - apologies if these have been asked/answered elsewhere and I didn't see.

Do these green handles fluoresce under UV?

Are there plans for a Salt 1 in LC200N?

No it doesn’t, the grips look like a faded dirty olive color, black hardware stays black, the blade is an iridescent purple (pretty cool looking).

I’ll take a photo of it tomorrow if you want to see what it looks like lit up with only UV.

Can't help on the UV.

I thought I remembered Sal saying so on the Salt 1 LC versions. No real direct mention of one after a quick search. Links:

I
I have had one preordered for 2 months.
Be patient! I say it was worth the wait. I Pre-ordered with knifecenter on 9/17 and it was delivered on 11/25. I asked them and the nice lady said they work through the pre-orders in the order they were made, shipping as the knives trickled in. Sounds like Spyderco tries to spread these around to all the dealers.

Here’s a family photo. I actually managed to snag 2 of them a couple of weeks back but didn’t open them up until tonight. It’s going straight into my pocket tomorrow morning. I’m digging the full flat grind on a salt.
Very nice !
I managed to score a mean green last night from a dealer and will hopefully have it by Christmas Eve under my Christmas tree and in My pocket Christmas Day :D

Nice shot !
I may be the only one but I like the sharpness of the spydie hole. It gives a better bite when wearing gloves and your finger slipping off when opening is probably not going to happen. Doesn’t seem to bother my thumb either. But imagine if your sitting there constantly opening it and fidgeting with it that might be a issue.

You aren't the only one! I don't mind a nice sharp Spyderco opening hole as well.

Got mine for a while, here's a bunch of thoughts in no particular order.

Thin FFG, I very much prefer it over the sabre ground version. This is my first LC200N blade, can't wait to compare it against thin FFG H1. The Seki vertical-play is there, but not as bad as I expected. There is no lateral bladeplay, but that is achieved at the cost of what seems like sandwiching one washer between the blade and the left scale (presentation side). I might be wrong, I haven't taken it down to confirm this. There is a big gap between lockbar and scales, but by no means any bigger that the one on my Salt 2 wharnie.

I very much prefer the lack of lateral bladeplay over looks so it's a tradeoff I'm happy to live with.

Fit and finish is otherwise flawless.

After some use earlier in the year, I came to realize the PS2 handle shape does feel better in hand that the PS1. I still prefer volcano grip over the bi-directional one but that is mostly due to the fact that during summer I mostly carry IWB shorts and the bi-directional texture is a veritable skin shredder. Also, I really really hate the plasticky feel of the FRN on PS2 and the clickety-clack sound it makes when locking the blade in place (the FRN on PS1 feels fuller and almost warm to the touch and the blade locks with a solid twang but that is mostly due to the one-piece build). I also still prefer the barrel bolt clip but that is just personal preference.

All in all, a lightweight moderately-priced jack-of-all-trades, kudos to Spyderco for giving us the opportunity to test LC200N vs. H1 on the same platform.

Summer 2021 will tell how it fares against FFG H1 and if this is the rightful heir to my first generation (pinned construction) PS1 that I've been carrying since 2007.
