Package Delivered Customer Won't Even Cooperate--What would you do?

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone. It is very important for the buyer to be involved in the shipping part,of the knife trade/purchase. It helps seller's like Derrick and myself keep track of shipments . So take a moment of your time & follow through Thanks All

That's his choice and fair enough as a business decision, but if he required a signature there would probably be no need for this thread.

And if the carrier were made to pick up the cost of their mistakes, there would either be fewer errors, or the carrier would be more expensive relative to others.

WRONG, I got hit for $1,100 by a buyer stating they got an empty box...signed fo0r delivery then filed a claim..the worst thing was the buyer sent me a message through them that they would "split the difference" with me. Who would take a $550 hit for an empty box???? I thought that was proof but no, $1,100 credit w issued out of my account. Unbelievable!

As it is, there is no incentive for the carrier to ensure a safe delivery, and the cost of that failure is spread amongst everyone.

That's why I said Probably.

We're talking about business shipping and while a scam is always possible, I'd hope that PP would not side with a buyer claiming a business has shipped an empty box, especially when parcel weights etc. will have been recorded.

I will say it again...

When tracking says " DELIVERED" and the buyer says they didn't recieve it. The postal service can look up the GEO location. That will show exactly were the letter carrier was standing when he/she scanned that package. Any post office can look this information up!

It's usually only accurate within a few yards. Could be you or your neighbour or all the people living below and above you in an apartment complex.
Had a FedEx guy constantly delivering to the same apartment number in a neighboring house.

Explaining via mail where the house numbers are clearly visible didn't help until FedEx made the guy come to my place and I showed him around. I still wonder how he found my place so that I could show him where it is???

I didn't want his apologies. Just needed my packages....

I don't see how this helps if the package is scanned and left on the doorstep (or wherever) and later goes missing.

It doesn't prevent thievery. It will serve as a reference point for last contact when something is honestly missing and perhaps even when something is stolen.

Nothing is certain in this world and the best way to ensure that a package arrives safely is to hand deliver it yourself. Now, that is not exactly possible this day in age which is why there are businesses that do it at cost and compromise.

Probably not the case here, but on a semi-regular basis I get package delivered on something I'm tracking I've purchase and it hasn't. Always delivered 6:30PM or later according to the time stamp and I was home. Just the mail carriers way of saying it's been a long day, you'll get it tomorrow or next business day. Freaked out the first time it happened, but around the holidays or heavy rain days, it happens.

In response to Derricks question, I would say absolutely make the buyer file a claim with PP. Not sure if this is even a question anymore after all the responses but the customer may be trying to avoid committing mail fraud, a federal offense, by just dealing directly with KSF and not PP or the USPS. The customer may be hoping the good will of Derrick and the practice of providing excellent customer service will allow him/her to take advantage of KSF.

As far as the post office is concerned, I haven't been thrilled with their performance lately. Our mail routinely comes around 7pm; I have been home and seen the mail truck drive by only to find a "Sorry we missed you" card in the box which I had to bring to the local PO to retrieve my package, and the other day I had a package delivered to the wrong address. The fact that the package was delivered to the wrong address was not a huge issue; it is bound to happen occasionally. I did actually receive the package from my neighbors a few days later. What upset me was that I went to the PO to alert them of the issue and received no communication back from them. Since my neighbor handed me the package, how was the USPS supposed to know that I actually received it? What about the claim form I filed with them the day after the package was "delivered" but I didn't have it? I guess they figured my lack of action(returning to the PO to complain that I still didn't have my package) was evidence that I did receive it from honest neighbors.

I've had Several instances of the delivery driver signing as delivered.

Then maybe it shows up the next day.

perhaps that's their way of achieving a good rating for delivered on time ?
