Para 2 pivot bushing??? ...not sure about it.

How confident are you that you'll be able to keep the relevant surfaces parallel and perpendicular? How confident are you that you won't take too much material off the bushing?

I don't know, but I'm very precise when it comes to fine work . The factory haven't done their job ,so I should be the one to fix the problem ? Can you suggest anything else ? Returning the knives is not an option as I live in Europe .

I did this also and it helped a great deal. My theory is that tightening the stop pin skews the liners a tiny bit and the extra pressure from the "low spot" is enough to tighten up the play. We're talking about 1 or 2 thousands of an inch here. A tiny change is all that's required.

I played with the stop pin screws (both sides, along with the pivot screws) on my Para 2 and it helped me get it just about perfect. Whatever the reason, it helps enormously to get it tuned up right.

Hate to dig up an old thread but it's easier that starting another. I was going to live with my M4 Manix's blade play until I learned the para2 uses the same budding setup. My para2 is perfect and cost a decent bit less. Granted, these are not customs, not a hinderer, sebenza etc. These are also not Gerbers, etc on that level. I really don't find it acceptable IMO that I should have to live with the blade play that some say is acceptable.

Spyderco will not allow me to fix it or to take the knife apart to do so. I called them and asked about the play and they say some is acceptable. I'm going to send mine back and see how it works out.

ive owned 4 para 2s all the SLIGHTEST side to side play no matter if the pivot was slam tight. it didnt really bother me honestly bc it was so so slight. it is a folding knife after all is the way i look at it. ive had 500$+ knives with the same slight play its no biggie to me.

I'm just about convinced the tiny bit of play is simply inherent to the bushing system. I had an XHP Manix and now I have a Para 2; both have a tiny bit of play. I simply carried the Manix for about 2 months and used it, and have been carrying the Para for a few weeks. Guess what? The play is disappearing in the Para, and had completely vanished in the Manix. No need to tear your knives apart, just USE them and (in my experience) this fixes itself.

handwrecker good to know sir! im convinced its due to the pivot system also. anybody that says theirs is solid just simply isnt tugging on the blade hard enough! lol idk thats my thoughts atleast.. either way the play is soooo minimal i could care less seriously its not a fixed blade but a folding pocket knife.

i have another that should be here wednesday ill post an update on this thread as to whether it has the same play...

I'm telling you, mine have no play. No matter how hard I wiggle, no wiggle! :D
I have a couple manix2s and two of the three have a very tiny amount of side to side.

That's good!! Haha hopefully my fifth that gets here Wednesday won't either! Doubt it tho seriously. Idc either way really

Yeah I also had a Para 2 a few months ago with side to side play. I just bought another last week and it has absolutely no play at all. The pivot is cranked down as far as it goes and the blade opens smoothly too. Maybe it just took a while to get it right, but this one is perfect.

You're just plain wrong. :) You haven't handled enough of these knives. Some are rock solid, although others have a little slop. The mix in the ones I own is probably at least 75% solid/25% slightly loose.

And on that (the 'idc' point) I think you're right, although some careful tweaking of the pivot screws and the blade stop screws can fix many, probably most, of these issues. Give it a try if it comes loose.

Been there done that tried tweaking everyone I had and all still had same play. Like I said hopefully the one I get today will be solid. But I doubt it highly lol. Good to know some are solid wish that had been my experience.

Maybe qc should watch the dept or machine or whatever that makes the pivot bushing. Just saying.

Either with the play it's still my favorite pocket knife I've ever owned. Hands down. I like it that much.
