Paracord Baldric

Sweet Brian! I gotta make one of those!

I think I'll make a strap for my maxpedition 10x4 bottle holder..

A couple of thoughts: for me, I want the cord to unravel easily and agree that the usual 'Daisy Chain' leaves a little to be desired from an esthetic view point, so how about the Poser Braid?

I just did this quickly with a couple of different coloured pieces of 550 I was using for a picture in my Cheat Sheets thread. There's a Zippo included to help give it a size perspective.

That looks like one of the braids I make bracelets with, i learned it as the Zipper Sinnet. It does come apart amost instantly which is very cool. Also if you want you can do it with one continues piece of cord instead of two. :)

Hey Joben, I learned it a few years ago from my boss' wife. Her grandmother taught her about 60 years ago. She said they used to use it for making mats and various other things. She didn't have a name for it. (They should have binomials like plants and animals to make it easier to keep track ).

I usually make it with only one cord, such as on my Buck folder. I think I used 2 cords in the first example to try and highlight how the braid looked. I much prefer it to the Daisy Chain, both esthetically (easier to make it uniform) and with the character (diameter, shape, etc.)

Here is one that I made using parachord and an old maglite holster. It's fully adjustable and works great.

When I've made lanyards utilizing the cobra braid, I sometimes like to make the knots tighter or looser to change the flexibility.

Brian, mine is not as cool, but here you go. This is my rig for my Spyderco Bushie:

Wanted to bump this thread. I am in the process of upgrading my winter knife carry system. I have a Martin Swinkles technical bushcraft sheath for my RC-3. I'd like to replace the nylon belt I use now with braided paracord. I'll eventually do leather, but for now I have lots of paracord. Is there a good link with step-by step instructions for doing a paracord baldric like the one in Brians and schmittie's pics? thanks.

Check this out.

Also, Google Stormdrane's blog. Dude has got crazy knotting skills!

A lot of great ideas here. I might have to give this a go next outing. Looks to be a lot more comfortable than neck carry, which I have never really been fond of.

I've been back and forth to this thread since Brian put it up last month, and I've been toying with the idea of rigging something similar up. Has anybody here done this using (dare I ask?) kydex sheaths? As much as I do love the look of these leather sheaths, I just don't have any, and I still dig my kydex rigs. I might have to figure out a way to set it up.

Last month?!? This is a total revival thread man! This thing originated in Nov. of 2008... back from the dead...

I had a simple paracord and kydex rig for my Fehrman Last Chance, which I've since traded, but I was really looking to do something similar with my current wilderness blade loadout.

I'd love to figure out a way to to a baldric that can hold my bushcraft knife and hatchet. That would be great. I wear the hatchet on my belt now, but it's not too convenient with all the layers you need here in WI this time of year... Any ideas for that kind of set up?

Ahhhh I'm seeing it now. I came across it early last month, and only noticed the "Nov" in the date haha. In that case, good save, thanks JGON!

Zombie thread or not, this is a good one!

I really like this method of carry. Here is my rig.

I'm familiar w/ the cobra knot, would like to try something different- anyone know what knot/weave is pictured here?

a snake knot would probably work pretty well too

Looks like a simple braid to me. I may have to try that bit of cord tied around the knife handle. I like the idea of it.

I like baldric carry very much. I tend to use a single strand, which is comfortable enough, especially with a jacket on. I quite like the knotted version however...looks comfortable indeed.

I tend to tie on a piece of 550 on the bottom of the sheath and put a big knot or a small carabiner on the end; that way I can tuck the knot through my belt and keep the knife hanging at the side instead of swinging forward when I bend over. When wearing a jacket, I can often attach the loop or knot to the button on a pocket or just clip the small 'biner to the hem of the jacket.

here's an idea for a small hatchet baldric-esque rig. This is holding a GB mini.

I saw this rig in California; the owner had it made for him.
