Paracord Baldric

I made one using the 4 strand round braid for something different.

A 4 strand round braid

1) 2 pieces of cord, this works with a lot of cordage, paracord, jute, leather. Just make sure they are the same lengths. When I show the whole lanyard I will get more into lengths and such. For this you just need 2 pieces of the same length, lets say 2 foot of each, just for this tutorial.

2) I use a screw on my bench to hold the cord tight as I work, for my lanyard I will be using a split ring (this one happens to be a grenade pin) as my starting point. Feed the cord through the ring, centering it.

Nice pics. I'm curious to see the finished product. I've been looking up differant knots and so forth to make into a baldric. I guess what I'm struggling with is how to estimate the length of paracord I need. If someone says 50' of paracord is about right, is that 50' folded in half (25' a side) or 100' (50' a side). I've made a few paracord bracelets using the chain sinnet pattern. I guess I could scale it up. Still haven't found a good, clear cobra stich resource.

old thread, but a good one! :D

I finished up a 4 strand round braid using some 3/32" cord, one end has a gated clip, the other end a dual cord lock so I can adjust the length; it also happens to be the right length so I can use it as a lanyard for my little S&W 317! :D

Thanks for the thread-necro Mtwarden. This is such a great resource it should be a sticky!

I'm wanting to do a baldric style carry on my field knife. However, when I made the sheath for it I didn't do something right b/c the knife (in the sheath) is too handle-heavy so it hangs upside down.... I made some loops for it so I could also "scout carry" it, but still have a detachable baldric. I guess I'll have to make another sheath with a baldric carry as primary....

This is the Baldric I'm now using. All together it contains about 100 feet of 550 and can be accessed quite quickly - it unravels like a daisy chain. I'm quite pleased with this belt and it's a great way to carry a quantity of 550.

Yes and very nice! I prefer the width of that to the other stitches I've used in the past. How does one do that one?

ETA: I like te wider braid for carrying relatively heavier things than a small FB (machete, 1L water, etc.)

Russell, do a search for Slatts Rescue Belt. If you have any problems, email me.

I'm gonna bump another one of Brian Andrews great threads from a few years back. There are some great pics and ideas here from baldric carry.

Any new guys use baldric as a carry option this winter? Post up some pics!

I rigged this up for a canteen kit I put together but it works just as well for the knife

As you can see it works very well with the multiple layers we have to wear here in the brutal winters:D
