Paramilitary 2 news?

Just got this notice today,,, bummer.

Got my Para 2 yesterday! Wow this is a great knife! I never had a Para I and I was surprised at how large the knife is. But for it's size it's amazingly light. Centered blade, razor sharp. No flaws that I can see. I was playing with it last night and found my self reaching (with my thumb) to push the liner lock over :) This is my first compression lock and I'll have to overcome my muscle memory for other style locks but I like it. It's new and just a hair stiff but I'll play with it and get some lube in the pivot. The G10 is super grippy.

If I had to nitpick, while the light weight is great for pocket carry and handling, I actually like a little weight in the handles of my knives. Full exposed liners would be the only thing I would add. And maybe a little more jimping over the top of the spydie hole. I feel like my thumb wants to rest just a little further forward than the jimping goes.

Other than those two tiny things I am loving this knife. Can't wait to give it some pocket time!

BTW I ordered mine from KnifeCenter. I just noticed they have the Carpenter steel gray handle version up for preorder.

Actually the liners are full liners with weight reducing cut outs put into them. The only thing keeping them from being seen is that they are nested into the underside of the scales.

Just ordered one from gpknives! Looks like a bunch of dealers are getting them now.
 
Been looking for another Para 2 for awhile now, and while checking the dealer sites this morning, I was nicely surprised to find not only a Para 2 actually in stock, but a CF/S90V Para 2!

With the second-hand prices on these soaring to nearly $300, it seemed like a steal at the dealer's asking price. I snapped it up, and got my shipping confirmation e-mail a little while ago. Probably won't be here until after the new year, but that's fine.

I got booted off of two pre-order lists on this one, so I'm pretty pleased to have found one without having to get gouged.

Sorry if I mushed my words. I meant to emphasize exposed. I figure if they were exposed and not nested they'd be a little heavier from the additional G10. Or they could nix the cutouts. But like I said, I love the knife :)

ordered yours from yourcornerstore, too? got the same notification yesterday. And then a "20 Day" one today.

Maybe ill get a "10 Day" tomorrow
And a "Shipped" the day after...

A guy can hope...

Yep, and it makes for a very strong and rigid knife. :thumbup:
 
gpknives just got more para2's in stock, but they sold out pretty quick. I was lucky to be able to grab one.
I had one of the first production para 2's, but the blade was way off center, and when i sent it to spyderco, they said they fixed it, but it was still off center. i ended up selling it.
I was also lucky enough to get one of the s90v models, and today preordered one of the gray g10 carpenter steel models from knife center.
 
Is the para 2 basically the same size as the Gayle Bradley? Feel the same for carry?
 
Mine shipped a day or so ago from CS. GPK was reported to have maybe 5 left in stock today, early.

BTW, I got in on the CS preorder in mid November.

When did you order that one? Hope it wasn't recently and then you end up with one of the first models. Maybe they had a return or Spyderco was sitting on some from the original batch until the CF sold out. I placed a preorder recently but my expectations will be the new upgraded model (lock,etc). I had the original and was not happy with it once I had the CF and was able to compare the two models.

Similar in size but worlds apart in feel. The Para 2 is significantly lighter than the GB. I have found that I tend to carry my lighter knives more frequently, and those over 5 ozs., even the very nice ones like the GB, tend to get left behind.
