Part 3 of Emerson Q and A is up

Zemersons are far superior to Lemersons in almost every way. The two issues with Zemersons are that they're relatively heavy and now there's only one production model left.

Once again I agree :D When the 0620 went on clearance sale they were a steal.

Someone 'splain me. I get what a Kemerson and Zemerson are, what's a Lemerson?

Personally, I'm also much more into peaty Scotches like Lagavulin 16, Laphroig 10 and Lagavulin Distiller's Edition. However, Macallan 18 and Highland Park 18 are two other absolute favorites. Variety is the spice.

If that's your taste, let me recommend you give an Ardbeg called the Corryvreckan a try, if you haven't already.

Evil Greg could be construed as the super-villain to the iconic super-hero Ernest Emerson. :)

Nah, I'm too lazy to be a super anything and I wouldn't want to go up against a warrior SEAL elite operator ninjitsu commando squad like he could surely muster. ;)

I'm just over here working on my self-nicknaming ideas. I mean, I'm not going to call myself an icon, but I may start demanding you all show me the proper respect by referring to me as "Princess Unicorn Cupcake Sparkles" or something similarly intimidating. I mean, that's reasonable, right? No? Damn, back to the drawing board again.

A lemon is a defective product. An Emerson is a knife that often features lock stick, lock bar over-engagement, lock rock, or lock failure.

Lemon + Emerson = Lemerson

I did not coin the term and can take no credit, just trying to be helpful.

Wow, rough! LOL

I guess I should be grateful that all of mine are fantastic.

That said, my estimation of the man himself has definitely gone down a notch with this icon business. Humility is a spectacular trait.

Whip, I agree with your message, but the fact remains that setting yourself on a pedestal is pretty low class. Plenty of people DO respect Emerson for his accomplishments, there wasn't really any need for the self-aggrandizement.

Which ones would you recommend? I'm asking... um.... for a friend :P

I don't actually own the three majors that most Emerson fans would suggest to you because to me, I'm not a huge fan. Those three being the CQC-7, the Horseman (a small CQC-8), and the Roadhouse. I simply don't prefer those.

I will tell you that my Vindicator is among the best knives I own, and I carry it often. Full disclosure, that means when I'm carrying it, I'm not carrying one of my multiple CRKs, multiple Olamic Wayfarers, multiple Spydercos, etc. So, it's not like I don't know what flawless fit and finish, and high end steels Emersons don't have, ya know? I know they're basic, but I love 'em anyway.

I also carry and enjoy the CQC 15, 13, Persian, and Gypsy Jack. My Commander is a great knife, but it's usually a little much for regular carry, so I don't carry it often, though it absolutely molds to my hand when I use it.

Full disclosure part II: I sit at a desk all day, and I'm not particularly tactical, nor am I a badass spec-ops SWATSEALDelta commando. Just a guy who loves the ergos, and doesn't have a problem with the 20 year old materials list.

They aren't for everyone, but I DO think that Emerson makes some of the best knives from an ergonomic standpoint. I wear a size XL glove, and they fit my hand perfectly in any grip. As for sharpening those Ems with recurves, several swipes on that side on my Spyderco Sharpmaker, and they will split hairs.

Forgot to mention the pertinent part: I got almost all of my Emersons either from the Exchange, or from reputable sellers on Ebay. I wouldn't pay full price for one in most cases, but fortunately, they come up pretty often on the Exchange. In addition, deals can be had if you look hard. I picked up a Patriot for roughly half the cost they go for on Emerson's site, love it. HUGE knife, though.

I'm not a Delta Operational Operator or a Seal but I like to carry my CQC -7 sometimes. Admittedly I bought the other Emersons, like about 8 different models, just out of curiosity.

I love how people get so emotionally tied up and invested in a simple video. It really shines a light on the true nature of some of the personalities around here. Buy what you like folks, don't buy what you don't. Respect the forums, if you want to troll up a thread head on over to Whine and Cheese and have at it.

Should the three threads started by EE be merged?

They are all of similar content
They are all by the same OP
They are all just resulting in a petty diatribe for or against said OP...

I think a merge of the Original Posts would do well to clean up GKD a bit.
Or
Link the vids from 2 and 3 into the initial post of the first thread and lock the 2nd, 3rd, and who knows how many others to come...

I don't see why. If we merge these three threads, I'd have merge every other thread that falls into similar categories, and some of the very posters in these threads asking for a merge are guilty of posting in the same manner. It may not be the same day, but the post style is all the same. If you don't like the threads, don't post or read them. Simple. Don't get worked up over it because it won't end well.

I'll just never understand or comprehend the idea that a super strong ultra marine navy seal commando knife = thin fast wearing liner lock...seriously people. Liner locks and frame locks are great for EDC and normal use, but for a hard using army knife in combat? to trust your fingers to the guy who put the tang and lock bar geometry on the knife that afternoon at the factory? what a joke.

Relax, the SEAL that auctioned his 7 did say it was a back up knife, iirc.

Which is why I asked Ernie in the first place what a diver would be doing with a folder scraping the hull of a ship to attach limpet mines. I am not sure how true this could possibly be. Maybe it was a fixed blade.

Haha it's all a bit of comedy isn't it.
