Finally got around to using the SHSH.
This is the spot I did the testing. It is on the Columbia river which is over flood stage right now. Hence the trees underwater.

Did a chop off.
60 chops each.
From left to right:
Busse SHSH, Busse Basic 11, Glock 78, SOG Flash 1(yes I chopped with a SOG Flash 1), Cold Steel SRK San Mai, Ontario Rat 1

Side shot of SHSH and B11. B11 is a chopping BEAST!

SHSH is a Batoning BEAST!

I chopped a stick. B11 did very well so I tried it again to make sure it wasn't a fluke

In conclusion the SHSH is a great batoner with a slick comfy feel. I really enjoyed beating it up hopefully one day I can get a large Busse with micarta handles. I got an appreciation for micarta through using it, its very durable. There is something fulfilling about handling a $1000 knife. Thanks Mulder for the chance to use this rare piece of art:thumbup:.

I also love my B11 even more now, it just wins in most categories: weight, feel, performance. I think it'll do well against a machete to be honest, Ill try it one day and post about it.

Dmitry,

Thanks for the vids and review.
I sure did miss "Precious" this last week while camping.

I received the SHSH earlier this week and have been busy with work, but Saturday I got a chance to use it. My first impressions of the SHSH are positive, the handle looks cool and the sheath is very nice. There is an E etched in it ? It looks like a classic indestructible blade and the wear on the smooth coating gives it character. Its cool.

SHSHblade.jpg

I got out my blades that are about the same size and decided I would compare the SHSH with the DSF, SARSquatch, and SOD.

SHSHfriends1.jpg

SHSHfriends2.jpg

SHSH vs DSF vs Sarsquatch vs SOD
SHSH is the biggest and heaviest, DSF is the skinniest, Sarsq has the thinnest stock, SOD has a res-c handle.

SHSHSOD.jpg

I just so happened to have a log laying around, so naturally I had a mini chopoff.

SHSHchopbefore.jpg

25 chops with each blade. My aim is bad.:o

SHSHchopoff.jpg

The results were: SOD had the deepest groove, SHSH was next, Sarsquatch removed the most wood due to my bad aim, the DSF did ok, but was out of its league with these other knives.

I did experience the pinky bite with the SHSH, it makes me appreciate the SOD res-c handle.

I love the look of the SHSH and appreciate the price why they are sought after, the intimidation/bada$$ness of the blade is awesome. But the handles on the other blades are more comfortable to me.

Thanks Mulder for letting me use his sweeta$$ knife!

Nice DR...pass around is such an uber cool concept....maybe I should try it with some of my 1911's

Those are both really awesome shots. Is there any chance that you have one of the satin jack and the boss jack fully in view?

I have one shot that turned out LVC. Sorry it took so long to get posted. The satin jack pics are too blurry, hopefully the CABS inclusion is acceptable.

hey guys , i got the SHSH today. there are some rolls in the edge towards the tip and a ding above the micarta as seen in pics, other than that shes safe and sound with the other hearts before she gets put through the paces tomorrow and sun. my initial impressions are that i really love the way it feels in hand, i didnt think it could be better feeling than my SH-E but it is. not leaps and bounds but it is superior in subtle ways, the smooth coating and the exposed spine make it very nice along with the diagonal grooves on the micarta as well as being thinner slabs. cant wait to use her , heres some pics. oh yeah... THANKS MULDER!!! :)

Thanks for all of the reviews and pics. Personally the SHBM is on my short list. The SHSH is close in the hunt at getting a try.

alright fellow travelers, i took the SHSH out with my SH-E and put em through some bits of wood today. the SHSH feels great and chops very quickly , i was actually very surprised at how beat up it was and yet was still tearing through wood as easily as my newer edged SH-E. the SHSH gave me a little pinky bite but not enough to bother me, the ash1 pinky bite for example turned me off of it as my user, the SHSH is very very minimal but still there a bit. that being said however i feel like the straight handle gave me a smidgen more in the control area while swinging. overall the SHSH is superior to my SH-E ,though the margin is small. its very subtle in its superiority, but the blade profile and the control i had made it a nicer user. i did get more shock while using the SHSH versus the SH-E due to the slab thickness but again its made up for in control and the size of the balde profile taking huge chunks of wood out. All this being said however i dont feel like the price gap reflects the performance/functional gap. i know that mostly they are priced high because they are "iconic" and "rare" and i respect that aspect but as far as using i dont think i will drop the $$ on a new one, not for use anyway i may pick a new one up for a collection piece. but if i could get a used SHSH or a new SH-E id probably go with the SHSH :) . and dont forget i wanna know who put this cobra stitch d guard on here -mad props on the skills, .... cmon own it . who did it??? okay and now for pics or it didnt happen.

I was really impressed with its slicing ability after being pounded into about 3 huge logs. :) yay INFI!!
IMG_2359.jpg

SHSH on the left and SH-E on the right, beleive it or not the SHSH went through first even though it doesnt look like it went as deep as the SH-E :) the SHSH chopped bigger pieces out overall.

SHSH eating through yet another log :)

I've had the pleasure of fondling and beating this A2 beauty for the last couple weeks. It's a little fat but I won't hold that against her!!!

The edge came nice and sharp. Nearly mirror polished.

It was a pleasure slicing with it even though it is thick.
I wanted to try it as an all around camp utility knife.
Starting with making dinner (BBQ chicken salad).

No problems keeping an edge.
So now some desert!

I've got some more pics coming that are a little more abusive than this (tomorrow)!! ;)
I am totally in love with this knife. I wish I was able to keep it.
It's really great to work with. The handle shape is one of the most comfortable I've used and the scales are some sexy!!!!
Thanks Dave for allowing me to participate in this pass around!!:thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks for the pics and write up guys.
That D-Guard looks awsome Dave, Thanks.
