I'm really glad this thread was bumped, because my opinion of the Patch has totally changed. Being from the Recluse family, I was a bit hesitant about whether I would like the knife. One of my first Fiddlebacks was a very thin handled recluse and we did not get along well. For some reason it hit me in all the wrong spots and I never could get comfortable with it. The dichotomy was that it had some one of the best scales I've ever seen on a Fiddleback. It eventually moved along. When Phil stopped by for some BBQ last year I had the opportunity to handle the Patch reviewed here. Phil had already sent me the Leuku shown in this thread to test for an earlier review and I loved that knife (

I could have even ended up with the Patch shown here, but I went with a BC Sr. that day, so obviously I wasn't that enamored with it.
Eventually, I had the opportunity to snag my own and under Phil's recommendation I bought one. I was very lucky to get one that was 3/32" and I think that makes all the difference in the tasks I use the knife for. It is a very nimble and light knife. What sold me was a several week road trip we took to MT recently. I was committed to give the Patch its fair shot and so early in the trip, I switched my standard EDC folder for the Patch in a JouFuu clip-on sheath and used it the rest of the way. The Patch and I finally bonded. My wife ate her steak in a very posh steakhouse and proclaimed that all steakhouses should provide better knives to make their steak seem like better cuts meat instead of having to eat it with the grapefruit spoon of a knife they normally provide.
I still EDC that knife a majority of the time and it's a go-to now. I been on the lookout for just the right one to get another. (If any of you have a Shadetree with black bolster in 1/8 A2 you want to let go, please let me know!

Sorry for the plug on my own behalf). One thing is for sure is that opinions can change, and they can change a bunch. On that same trip I was evaluating large/small(er) knife combos that could come as close to possible to "doing it all". At the time my combo was a Camp + BCK. For the recent past it has been a custom shop Camp + Patch, and I am really struggling to find something that combo can't do. For me, Patch has run the full spectrum of my opinion, but I love that little knife now. I can't imagine not having one. Once again, Phil's review was spot on.
