I am very close to pulling the trigger on a bushlore, looks like a no nonsense bushcraft knife and i would like to try a scandi grind. Would be my first real bushcrafter, as my barkie's are really hunting knives to me. Any thoughts on that model?

I recently ordered one. I have to wait till Monday since UPS doesn't work weekends. The wait is killing me!

Hey all,I have a couple of Opinels needing new homes.(I like to mod 'em & pass 'em on)
The top one is an Oak handled SS #8 I reshaped & stained. It is 4 1/4" closed & the blade is 3 1/4".
The bottom is a carbon steel #7 Coghlan's I sanded & stained.The handle is a sixteenth shy of 4" & the blade is 3 1/16".
I sanded the sides of both to thin them out a bit(not much though) & added the cutouts for easy opening with just a pinch of the blade.
The #7 carbon has been etched in mustard, but the pattern came out uneven.I then cold blued it,then took most of the blueing off with some 000 scotch-brite for a nice aged look.
Both handles have a couple of coats of boiled linseed oil to seal 'em too.

Anyone not on "the list" can claim one as long as you are legally able to own a knife.(one per person please)
The catch is…you have to wait until after the Seahawks kick the Falcons butts tomorrow to post a claim.(:crossed fingers:);))
But if the Falcons win,I will retract the offer & burn them both!!!
Just kidding about the burning, but if you claim one you better not be from GA.if the Hawks lose.
Aw heck, never mind,it's just a game so I'll ship to GA. too.:)

Post here in the thread which one you want (after the game),then send me your addy via Email or PM please.
I'll get them out ASAP next week.

There is a small spot of scratches from sanding on the raised part of the collar on the top one,the #8.You can see it right next to the N there in the bottom pic.

GO HAWKS!!

The #8 is going to jobasha11.

I had the mini bushlore for a while. I love the design and it felt great. It was just a bit small. I think the full size would be about perfect.

Thanks Bear. Could you use it as a hunting knife too?

And NICE offer mykel! No comment on the hawks, thanks for the nationally televised monday night defeat though

Absolutely, the mini is very well balanced and I would imagine the large is as well. Also, for the price you can't beat the sheath the Condor's come with.

It's just a game man,get over it.:p

Har,har.I'll be telling myself that if the Hawks lose again tomorrow.

As to the scandi grind for a hunting knife..sure why not,as long as you don't try chopping through the pelvic bone.

Thanks Bear, looking forward to Portman's first impressions. Yeah the sheaths look very nice for the price point

I just remembered that Monday is Veterans Day so the POs will be closed.

Lets all remember our serving & past vets please.

Lol, i have much faith in your west coast beach birds chances tomorrow, either way a great offer, thank you!

For my hunting needs it is only cutting through soft tissue, so yeah the scandi grind could serve both roles it would seem, bushcrafter and hunting knife. Now i REALLY want to see what Portman30-06 thinks

I have the mini. I think it would be as great as an Izula or BK11 in that capacity, unless you feel like you need a 4-5" blade. I would call it a 3-finger knife in large hands, however it has such a round handle that it fills the grip well. The reason I asked is that I wouldn't mind also shipping it to you to try out. I see ya have some rather expensive folders, and would like to introduce you to the great low end users. I have a Tavian too, which is an AMAZING all around 4 inch EDC/Hunter/Camp knife.

Wow, very generous of you! Yeah i humbly admit i may some higher priced folders, but if i expect i may have to cut something with a folder beyond paper it is a Rat 1 that i carry. I would very much like to try out a condor.
