Pay It Forward -- it's been a while

Hi irona,

It's been almost a week so I hope you don't mind if I move on and offer the Buck 303 to bralexander or anyone else who might be interested.

bralexander?

Right! Sorry, go ahead and do that! I've had a big workload and totally forgot to act. My bad, everyone!

If you didn't want to give away the knife why did you post it in the first place?

Not being privy to details, assuming he gave it to the first responder, I would guess he deleted it afterwards to not be bombarded with people asking for that sweet knife after it's gone. Or he backed out, which is kinda annoying, but there is no requirement that you cannot change your mind, especially with a knife worth over $100. I'd be kinda iffy on that too.

Just wanted to let everyone know, I just received the Buck 303 from AlwaysTomboy. It is in great shape, of course I deep cleaned, polished a little, and sharpened all the blades up! Really nice knife, and I sure appreciate the generosity.
Bruce

I also still have this available, that I posted some time ago....

So, there is....technically.... a knife in this set! This is a great condition Girl Scout travel utensil set with pouch. This set is great to take camping, to work, put in your glove compartment, etc. I had it in my car for a while, but ended up selling the car and have another set to use anyways. Hopefully someone can get some use out of the set, as they are very well made.

I was the first responder and didn't hear from him. I guess thats what I find annoying, not that he changed his mind, but that he didn't really communicate anything.

These are primarily NIB folders that I donated to a local County Sheriff's Association last week. I've been "collecting" these knives for the last yr or so by buying them one at a time from you guys on the Exchange. Sometimes, I get a small break in the price when I tell the seller that it is for a donation to either deployed military or Law Enforcement. One fellow included a nice note in the Spyderco box, thanking the recipient "for your service." I left the note in the box.
I have donated quite a bit, previously, to individual LEO's and deployed military, but this is the largest batch that I've ever gotten together at one time...except for one batch of sixty-seven SAKs (for Sandbox troops) when I bought the collection from one of you fellas.
The County Sheriff's Assn training officer said that most of these will be given as "prizes" for inter-agency shooting competition among the various SWAT teams.
No, I'm not a rich guy. I am retired and basically live on Social Security. But this gives my hobby a real meaning.

Our cops need a decent knife...who knows? ...the next seat-belt that they cut at an accident scene could be YOURS..

That's awesome man 👍
The funny thing is that I watch reruns of cops often and every time one of them uses their knife to cut something it's almost always a spyderco. I don't know if it's the fact that the original spyderco knife was called the police, but they just love them ( probably because they're great quality slim lightweight knife )

Peer pressure. Buddy of mine is a cop. His first day on the force he pulled out a Smith & Wesson S.W.A.T. knife-type thing and the veteran officer he was rising with asked to see it. He promptly tossed it into a trash can and instructed him to go buy a real knife, which I'd been telling him to do for years.

He carries a Benchmade Triage rather than a Spyderco though.

What are the two above the Shallot, and the one below the Shallot? They look vaguely familiar but I'm not sure. These knives are all up for grabs, right? :D

Good on you for making sure police have good knives. I see them in my town and they either don't have a knife (how you do that, I don't know), or they carry a junker like a $10 S&W or even worse a no name gas station knife.

Ok you wonderful people of BladeForums, it's time to get this thing moving again. Since joining here I've learned a lot of things, met great new friends, and have been the recipient of a few really nice blades that I could not have gotten before. My sharpening skill is finally passable now too.

I recall a particular younger member, thrilled to receive a Kershaw Cryo from this thread. He worked away a couple weeks of his summer, sorry I don't remember what he was saving up for, but he gave the money to his mother to help out. As a gesture of respect for sacrifice and being responsible, I will give this member first dibs on my offer. AustoLebiesto my friend, I give you a week to reply. What I offer you, is a gently used Lanskky guided sharpening system, as it turns out I prefer freehand sharpening. I will add to that, the Benchmade Volli I received in this thread. I absolutely love it, but a gifted Kershaw Blur has been my EDC for times when I wanted a large blade, so the Volli gets little pocket time recently. I know you will love it!

Aside from that, I am looking at purchasing a handful of vintage USA made traditional knives from another member for attempted restoration. If that works out, and I can refurbish a couple nice ones I may offer one of the good ones up as well.

AustoLebiesto, I will reserve this offer for you until next Friday, after that it will go to another member.

That's Fantastic system, I use it on my BM. Cheers for getting this thing going again

Indeed it is a great system. I learned a lot from it which is why I gave dibs to somebody that last I heard was just getting started.

I would like to ask if any of the unclaimed offers still stand, that the owners renew the offer so we'd be starting fresh here on page 95 ;)

In the spirit of this thread, today I gave a friend, Sean, a Byrd Cara Cara 2 I got our of an estate sale

This was one of my favorite threads here! I participated as much as I was able and absolutely LOVED it!!
Would love to see it pick up steam once again!

Thanks for restarting this thread! I think I may have a few things I'd like to contribute, but I have to check and see

I may have a thing or two as well. Depends if anyone here is looking for a straight razor

I've got one for the good folks here who could use something sharp...
H&K unsub, cool knife, assisted opening. I think I have the box. Haven't really used it, and most likely never will so let's get it off to someone who will use it.

I'll take care of standard shipping as well. Please, if you have a bunch of knives, let someone who needs this have a crack at it. Thanks!

OK... I'm going to ask for this one... I'm getting an Hk pistol Wednesday and this would be a fantastic companion...

That being said, if someone actually needs a decent knife, I can let it go to them, or offer up my kershaw leek that has been a fantastic knife for me
